The Lord's Sermon on the Mount,
was the subject of the morning
sermon in the United Church. The
meditation was centred Ln the
first two verses of the seventh
chapter of Matthew's Gospel "With
what measure ye mete it shall be
measured to you again:' Mrs.
Cousins sang All arrangement of the
Londonderry Air, the words "My own
dear Land;' by Joint Oxenhamt
in excellent voice,
In the evening the choir sang
"Christ is my Pilot" by Philip Hall.
The evening sermon subject was
"The Resources of Joshua." Mrs.
R. S. Hamilton presided at the organ
at both services.

During the business Period it was
decided to hold the Congregational
nrreting late in January. Ways
and Means for snaking money were
discussed and it was decided to
divide tbe W,A, into two parts name-
ly Morris and Grey and each side
work in their own way toward
raising funds.
After the closing hymn the Mizpalt
benodiction • was repeated in unison.
The social hour was then conduct-
ed and Mrs. A. Backer callers. on Miss
Carrie HIngston for a 0010, "'Phe
Master Stood in his Garden." Mrs.
S. Wheeler then road a couple of
poems, "Aunt Hattie's Place" and
"My Daughter" from a eolleotion
written by Edna Jaques. This was
followed by a solo, "Danny Boy" by
Mrs. Dean Davison, A Geography
Contest was conducted by Miss F.
Buchanan atter which a delightful
lunch was served, •
A.vote of thanks was voted to Mea.
Wheeler for her hospitality.

lellzaheth Ritchie, beloved wife of
William Gilleeple, diel at her home
on William street, Brussels, on
Thursday, January 20th,
ter:: had been in failing health for
the past eight years. A year ago
Oho suffered a broken hip.
A lite -long resident of this com-
munity, the late Mrs, Gillespie was
born on Aug. 30th, 1879, on the
Ritchie homestead 34 miles south of
Brussels, the daughter of the late
Chas, 117. Ritchie and his wife,
Margaret A, Stewart. She was
united in marriage to her now bereft
partner, \'illiaan Gillespie, on June
4111, 1902, by the late Rev. John Ross.
A member of Melville Preebyterinn
Church, the deceased was a faithful
worker in the work or the church as
long as her he•aith permitted. She
was a life member of the W.M.S. to
which she belonged for over 50
years and will be sadly missed le
her friends.
Two brothers and one sister• pre-
deceased her.
Funeral services were held from flower girls will sing for you. The
