Passed away at the home of her
brother, Arthur, in Morris Township
on Friday, Sept. 10th, Ann Jane
McCall in hes 8'$rd year. She was
the oldest. member of the family of
George and Sophia MCCall and is
survived by one sister hire. Arabi..

and six brother, William and Arthur,

one sister Emma passed away in

Ira Edgar Switzer
The death of Ira Edgar Switzer,
age 76 years, of North Battleford,
Sask., occurred in a Saskatoon hos.
Pita] on September 11, 1964.
The late Mr: Switzer was born at
Cranhrook. Ont., the son of the late
Charles, ,Switzer and Jane Knight, of •
Cranbrook, ,
He moved to what is now Keitield
Sask. in 1906.
, The funeral service was held on
Tuesday Sept. 14., from the Gospel
Church at Keitield, Sask. Surviving,
are his widow, the former Katharine
Jane Roycrolt; three sons, Charles J.
Switzer, Belfield, lames E. Switzer,
Bapaume,Sask., George E Switzer.
Camrase, Alta.; one daughter, Mrs.
Gordon Kelly, Kelfield; two brothel/
William Switzer, Victoria B. C:, and
Les Switzer, Brussels, Ontario,
Interment took place in the family
plot in Kelfield cemetery.

The child escaped injury.
The car was badly wrecked.

Rev. Arthur W. Barker, B. D. 52,
who died at his, home Saturday' was
born in Lobo township; and after
graduating from McG1A Dniversity,
at Montreal was ordained in 1901.
His 53 year ministry was all in
London Conference of the United
Church, and lie served Comber, Sea -
forth, Dresden, Kincardine, Brus-
sels and Windsor, before coming to
the Highgate charge as interim nun -
ply for Major the Rev. C. W. Cline,,
Since retirement from the active
ministry he was actively engaged
In supply work, until taken 111. His
first wife, the former Margaret.
Howes died in 1924,
Survivintt are his wife, the for-
mer Gladys Pollock; a twin brothtr
Charles, London, and several nieces
and one nephew.
'Dhe remains rested at the home,
Ridge/fawn, until Tuesday, when ser,
vice was held in Highgate United
Church at 2.00 p. m.

its, and in attendance, as well as
shaming marked improvement in
the quality of exhibits, and their
presentation, This year tile prize list
has been in'cr'eased to $5000, the sec-
ond largest in this class of any fair
in Western Ontario. There Will be
0011 of Western Ontario's largest
light and ,heavy terse shows. '21iere
le a $100 sltake for gentleman's
single outfit. The feeder cattle
section offers increased Prize
money. It will be achievement day
'for the Brussels 4-H swine Club
and 4-11' Baby Beet Club, and the
Brussels Foreritry Club. For the
harness races, a feature of any Pall
fair, theme is a purse of $500.00
In the Crystal Palace it is expected
the exhibits will be the best on rec•
ord under the direction of the newly
formed Womc,n's. Division. See the ad,
in this paper, a bill, or a prize List
for oomplete information..
The first evening, Thursday, Sept.
30th., at 8 o'clock, there will be the
oratorical conbest in the Palace,
Come and give encouragement to the
young sneakers and see the inside ;
exhibits at the same time.
Friday afternoon, Oct. 1st in add-
ition to everything else, Elmer and ,
led, stars o3 0.K.N.X., will entertain'
at the stand, with music, comedy
and song. There will be two bands
in 'attendance. A midway, with Ferris
wheel. -rides, etc, and pony rides to I
keep the young folks hapipy, and
of course a monster school parade at 1
1 P. m. The teachers and pupils go
4o a. great deal of trouble to make
this parade the success it has grown
to be — so be on grand early to be
sure and see it,
The fair will be officially opened
by F. A. Lashley, Superintendent of '
Ontario Association of Agriculture
Societies, at 2 p. m.
Friday evening there will be the!
Pall fair concert in the Arena, at
8.30 5. m., when the program will
offer acrobats, magic ventriloquism,
' comedy, music and song with 1

be dancing after in the Crystal;
Palace to the music of ."The Sun_
downers."

Brussels was saddened Proes),
night by the death of one of its
moat esteemed citizens, Mr. Robert
Jolie Bowman, in St. Joseph',
Hospital, Hamilton. Mr. Bowman
was in his 72nd year, and was the
son of the late James Bowman and
Sarah Work of Morris Township, Ile
was married in 1918 to Mies Evelyn
decascd him 33 years ago.

lie is survived by one daughter,
Mrs, Stewart Watson of Dundee,
Ont„ and three .sisters, Mrs. Russell
Wheeler, 0odea'ici1; Mr..,, 3. I-1,
Galbraith, Brussels; and Mrs. R. G.
Scott, Lindsay.
Mr. Bowman was very active in
both church and community lite, and
will be greatly missed. He was
Reeve of Bruelsels from 1931 to 1937
and from 1940 to 1945, and Warden
of Huron County in 1936. He was
Returning Officer of uthe Conservat-
ive party in Huron County, and a
member of the County's Children's
Aid Committee. For many years
he Was secretary -treasurer of St.
John's Lodge No. 284 Masoni6
Temple, Brussels, and was also a
member of Western Star Lodge No.
449, I.0.0,F, He was an elder of
Melville Presbyterian Cb,urch and
served on its Board of Management,
he was eecretary-treasurer of th6
Public School Board and treasurer 1
of the Library Board. During the
last war, the was, President of the
local branch of the Red Cross Soc-
iety. As a member of the Lion's ,
Club, he was manager of the Boys'
and Girls' Band, in which he took a
keen interest.
The body will rest at the home of his
sister, Mrs,, J. H. Galbraith, Brussels,
where lire funeral will be held on
