Dee. 6th. The anthem was, "King
of Kings" by J. B. Herbert.
LADIES AUXILIARY
The December meeting of the
Ladies Auxiliary to the Canadian
Legion was head oil Tuesday even-
ing, Dec. jet in. the Auxiliary
Rooms. .At 7 p. m. thirty ladies
sat down to a bountiful turkey
dinner served by the committee in
charge with Comrade Ethel Brewer
as, convenor. Following the dinner,
the Auxiliary members went as a
body to pay 'their final respeots to
the star member of the Canadian.
Legion, the late Mr. Joseph Baker.
The zone commander Mrs. Luella
Hall of Blyth accompanied by Com-
rade Cook of Blyth, attended both
the banquet and the. meettng. Com-
rade Hall installed the new slate of
offhoers for the coming yetis, which
read as follows:

their franchise, , Total votes for
Reeve Fischer were 274, while Mr.
Wright polled 225.
All councillors were named by
acclamation following nominations.
To sit on 1054 Council are A. D,
Smith. Harry Mulvey, W. Jack
Willies and Herbert Foston. School
trustees also were acclaimed. They
are Hugh Mundell ....and fames
Hardy.

The funeral service of she late
.7oseph Baker was held from his
home Turnberey Street, on Wednes•
day, Dee. and, at 2 p. m. 'Ike eter-
vice was conducted by Rev, W. H. T.
Fulton of Melville Presbyterian
Chnech. During the service Graeme
?4rponatd sang "Beyond The Sun.
set." Interment took place in'
Brussels Cemetery. Pallbearers
were Calvin and Gordon Kreuter,
W. E. Willis, Lloyd Workman, Frank ;
Mitchell and Harold Thomas.
Baker wars born in Ruseda, 68
years ago and name to Canada a -j
bout 50 years ago. Before coming
to Brussels he lived in Montreal!

American Hotel.
Through his 'business he had be- I
came a familiar figure to a large
cirole of friends and acquaintances
and he will be missed by young I

COMMENCEMENT
Several students and former
students of Brussels Continuation
Sohool were among those who
received special awards at ate
recent commencement exercises at
Wingharn. John Hoover won the
award for 'highest standing in
Grade 9 at Brussels, and Margaret
Persia was awarded the Martin
Murray prize for the 'highest stand-
inig in English. Joan Thomas won
the prize for highest standing in
Gradedl, and Isobel Dennis for
Grade 10. Miss Detente was also aw-
arded a apeciai prize for the high '
est mark in English, GradelS. The
Kinetto Club scholarship of 9100 for
the highest ranking girl student in
Grade 13. T he emend Carter schol-
arship of 900 for high standing in
Huron County, and a government
bursary veined at $250 to be ttse'd
for study at a teachers college.

Kiulorh Grower, now 8 student

present, was awarded the Prank
Worral Memorial( Shield for senior
