on Sunday Afternoon, July 19111,

Thee afternoon was spent in playing

BROTHER AND SISTER
DIE WITHIN A WEEK
On July 18th, John J. Strachan
passed to the Great Beyond after a
long illness in Wingham Hospital
and one"woek later, Jhaly 25th his
sister, Miss Jessie at home, followed
him, having succumbed to a severe
abtack of coronary thrombosis,
The brother and sister were born
on lot 2, con. 4, Grey town'lhip, and
spent their entire lives on that home-
stead, which was hewn out of the
forest by their father. They were
the last members of a "family of
eight, fiye sons and three daughters,
horn to the late Thomas and Flora
Cameron Strachan.
John was a man of stirling char-
acter upholding the principles of up-
right living in the community and
Jessie took a great interest in the
Sunday School at Jamestown, where
her brother, Robert was superintend-
ent for many years. Her home Was
the centre of many happy gatherings
as she extended a warm welcome to
.former friends returning to the home
neighbourhood. She was talented
in music and painting, and many
a sick mom was brightened by her
rresence. They were both members
of the United Church, Brussels, and
the ftlneral services were conducted
by their pastor Rev. Andrew Lame,
while Mrs. Wm. King played the as-
comparing
sconmparing music. Two favderite
hymns. the twenty-third Psalm, and
"Unto the Hills" were sung.
