HELLO BRUSSELS
Here are some of the feature attractions Goderlch is offering
at its Old Home 'Week, August 3 to 7. The Monday morning Histor-
ical Parade will be the biggest thing of its kind ever seen In
Huron County. There are special prizes for Floats depicting some
aspect of Huron's history open to all the County.
Monday afternoon the Saddle Club entertainswith a thrilling
program of Hurdle, Chariot and other races.
Tuesday evening the Huron All Stars headed by Charlie
Justice of Lucknow, take on the Chicago Hottentots World Cham-
pion Coloured Soft Bali Team. Tuesday night there will be an Old
Time Fiddlers Contest and dancing for the first time on the new
floor In the. Goderich Memorial Arena.
Wednesday afternoon the Godertch racing Association are
putting up purses of 33000.00 for a Stellar Harness Meet, with a
full card in all classes.
Wednesday night a league game of Box Lacrosse between
Walleceburg and Sarnia' will be played In the MemorlalArena.
On Thursday night Toronto Dally Star presents its famous
free Concert In the' Arena.
Street Dancing on the Square every night to the music of
W. J. R. Big Barn Frolic.
Prizes for best Carnival Costumes.,

Miss Margaret Perrie has received

Coneervaitot+y of Music tlhat she hats
been awarded a silver medal, for the
highest standing in Grade. VII Plano,
for the entire year. This is the
second medal •Margaret has won
for outstanding piano playing, in
the annual examination of the
Western Conservatory of Music.
Margaret Is the eldest daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. John Perrie and the
pupil of Mr. L. D. Thompson.

32,166.67 IN STAR CONTEST
Robert L. Taylor, 73 year old
bachelor farmer of Grey Township,
was ,the exultant winner of 52.156,
67 in The Star's Tangle Comics Con-
test, Mr. Taylor tied for second
place with, two Toronto engineers
each having 1,638 paints, Mrs. Pear-
son, or Veallecel ung, won first
place $10,000, with 1,642 points in
the contest tie breaker. •
Mr. Taylor, who hes farmed In
this Matelot all his lite, has been c
puzzle solver for 23 years and has
been among the winners on e ;

Mrs. Adam Sholdice
The death occurred at a Beams-
v111e Nursing Home on Thursday
morning of Mrs. Adam Sholdice the
farmer Margaret MoGregor in Ler
82nd year. Following her marriage
she resided• near• Paisley in about
1907. They moved to the Walton
deeriot where they resided until the
death of her husband two years ago
July 11th, .she •then went to live
with her daughter Mrs. Orval Whit-
field (Nora) St. Catharines. She
had been confined to the nursing
home for the bast nine days.
She leaves eo meutrn four sons and
three daughter, William, and David,
Walton; (Ella) Mrs. Russell Knight,
Brussels; (Catherine) Mrs. Thomas
Mose. Milleenton; Earl of Thorn-
hill; (Nora) Mrs. Orval Whitfield,
5t. Catharines; and Russell of
Rroadhagen. Twelve Errand -children
and five great grand -children, one
brother William MrGreger of Rich-
ards Landing.
The funeral was held en. Saturday
afternoon from fh•e R. A. Bann ent-
eral home. Brussels. Rev. M.

BRUSSELS BAND TATTOO
DRAWS LARGE AUDIENCE
Six bands them various Western
Ontario rentiets panticiPated in the
Band Tattoo in Victoria Park on
Wednesday night. Sponsored by the
Brussels Lions Club Boys and Girls
Band, a .splendid program of mar
cbes, ,overtimes and hymns, delight-
ed the large crowd that attended.
Bandmaster A. C. Robinson, who
arranged the program was in charge,
and Ives a capable matter of cere-
monies. fI

jerk. The marjorettes of the Zurich
Lions Club and majorette Rariene
Wamsley of the Brussels Band high-
lighted, the parade. Miss Kalb-
fielsh of the'Ziurich Majorettes gave
an exhibition• of baton twirling.
The Mille performed by the bugle
hands were a particularly interest-
ing feature of the tattoo. Selections
by the massed bands climaxed the
program.
