the .rain played havoc with the

Decorated bicycles and tricycles
were judged at the Palace. Prizes
were ,awfanded to Boys under 12,

Todd; 3rd Raymond Bronson. Girls
under 12, 1st Mary Beth .TeweB;

The afternoon program of races
and the evening hall game between
the Clifford Swing Skirts and the
Bruesels Blue Belles had to he can-
celled because of rain. The scene
of arttvities was moved from Vic -
aria Park to the arena where a
nrer rrnwd gathered to take part!
n the fun.
The Lions Boys and Girls Bead
molded music for the early 'part
of the program. Bingo was a feature
of elle evening; and other ,games of
ehanee. Pony rides and a fish -pond
r�attrncted the panne fry. Climbing a
greasy pole in an attempt to re-
cover the 85.09 hill at the top drew
a few hopeful conteetante but none

and Mrs. G. Smith. The Ladies
Auxiliary, held a free draw for

winners were Sally Galbraith, .Kay
Johnston and Richard McCutoh•eon.
A. C. Robinson. London• bandmaster
of the Lion's Band, was holder of the
leaky ticket, drawn by Sharon
Hemingway for tee Lazy Boy chair.
During the evening Piper D. A.
McLen'nen of Lachalsh, entertain-
ed the crowd with the music of the
pipes.
The Sparta Day was climaxed by a
splendid dlevate of fire works at
the 'park.

BURIED ON SATURDAY
Perth, Suly 18th — Funeral service
for Fred William Burchell, former
Perth mayor, who died Thursday,
when his auto crashed mitts a. cement
wall at Stibtville,' was meld from
St. Andrew's Cherc,h, Perth at 2.30
0. in. on 'Saturday. Interment was
meds in. Elmwood cemetery.
Mr. Burchell, was 63 and hard been
prominent in prefaces in Lanark
county.' He was defeated in the
Ontario election when he ran as a
Liberal against the Lion. George
Doucette, Ontario minister of high-
ways. His son, Peter, wee also de-
