Brussels, Ont o You Want Mable i:.tjces? Price stability depends on many things, but principally upon the` relationship between wages and production. If wages go up without a corresponding rise in the volume of man-hour production. then \ p prices are bound to go up too. So it is really up to the Canadian people whether or not we have stable prices. If we Canadians want the cost of living to stabilize then we must see that man-hour production keeps pace with wages. x Published as a Public Service by THE STEEL COMPANY OF CANADA, LIMITED Plants at HAMILTON - BRANTFORD - SWANSEA - GANANOQUE • MONTREAL Advt. The fact that there are still strikes and threats of strikes in spite of flaking retail 'prices and fulling industrial production while, at the incNttime, the highest indust- rial wages in our 'history; is "hand writing on the wall" warning of the danger of inflation. The werlvu of advertisements Published in Ontario weekly news- papers at this time by The Steel Company of Canada, Limited, have nothing ,to do with the steel industry as such, but they are helpful in giving Canadians a bed,ter under• ptonding of the economic force which govern ohm way of life, et a time when such understading is needed to guard against the disaster of inflation. itis evidence of the constructive trend of business thinking that this largest of (lanalals steel producers should have undertaken this form of public service at this critical time in our history. The work can be done easier, quicker, better, and at less cost the machine way— and there is less worry and less ex- pense when you use machine help instead of inexperienced and costly labor. No man who has experienced the many advantages of operating with modern equipment would want to go back to the days of "muscle -farming." Some of the greatest advances in mechanization in the history of agriculeure have been made in recent years.
