The February meeting of .St.
John's W. A. was held at the home
of Mrs. A. Morrow on Tlueeday,
Feb. 1910x, with ten members present.
Meeting opened with the Hymn 416,
"Watch and Pray," Psalm 77 was
read by Mrs. G. Davis. The Presi-
dent, Mrs.. Kerr led the prayer
service, witb the members prayer
and the Lord's Prayer in unison.
Minutes of the last meeting were
read and accepted. Correspondence
was read by Mrs. Morrow from
our prayer partner, Miss Mary
Harris, who is in the Anglican
Training College in Toronto, Mrs.
Kerr presided over bhe business
period. , Our study — The origin of
"The w. A. of tale Church of Eng-
land in Canada" was continued by
Mrs. Kerr who read some interest-
ing phases of the work. Meeting
closed with prayer. Bunch commit-
tee, were Mns. H. Beane, Mrs. J.
Fischer and Mrs. G. Davis.

Funeral services for Dr. Richard
S. Hamilton were held on Wednes=
day at 2.00 p. m. from the Walker
funeral hone, Brussels. Rev. A.
Lane of the United Church officiat-
ed, asstarted by Rev_ J. H. Kerr of

Miss Susan Hislop
The death occurred Saturday night
of Miss ,Susan Hislop, Brussels, in
her 73t1 year. She was bona In
Grey Township, daughter of the late
Andrew Hislop and his wife Suean
McNair. For the pest 30 yeens she
has lived in Brussels, and at the
time of her death made her home
with her brother-in-law ,Tames Me--
redeem
o-redeen. She was a faithful mem-
ber of Melville Presbyterian
Church, a nd active- in church or-
ganizations. She is survived by two
elsitets, Mrs, James Dickson (Mary),
of Atwood; by one brother, Sohn
Hislop, Gray township. Funeral
services were conducted on Monday
at ,the T). A. Reinn tluneral home,
Brussels, by Rev. Wm. Fulton.

Majestic Women's institute
'Tire February meeting of the
Majestic Women's Institute was
held 'tn the Brussels Public Library
on Thursday, atom:bees Feb. 14th,
The meeting opened with a mem-
orial .prayer for the late King and
Royal 'Family by Mrs. It W.
Stephen's "followed by two minutes
of silence.
The minutes and financial reports
were read by the secretary. The
roll eall •"`A'Firsi Aid Hint" brought
some interesting and helpful sug-
'gestions. Mr, Jas, S. Armstrong
spoke on 'behalf of ,Ube Fair Board
anKI requested that the Institute take

exhibits for the Fair. Mr. Armstrong

parties to he held in the Town .Hall
noon as an effort to raise funds.
It is hped to organize a Teen -
Town in Brussels. A. meeting and
dance will be held in the Town Hall
on Feb. 22nd. MTs. Marks, Mrs.
Todd and Mns. Lane were appointed
to esedst with the meeting. -
Miss Thelma Maier and Mrs.
Eldon Wilson are to be the leaders
for the garden club.
Mrs. A, Lane gave a moat interest-
ing

from eating humble Pie,"
Grades 5 and 6 of the Public
School delighted this Institute with
their musical numbers with Mrs.
Douglas at the piano, The Girl
Guides gave a demonstration on
bandaging under the leaders Misses
Donna Cudmore and Margaret Speir.

TO BIBLE LANDS
The Harmony Club of Melville
Presbyterian Church, Brussels, met '
in the church parlor on Wednesday
evening. The meeting opened with
a hymn and prayer by Rev. W, Ful-
ton. Robert Cunningham, Ether,
sang a solo, acoompanied by Mrs.
George Elliott.
The speaker for the evening was
'Lev. R .7. Boggs , of Moleswortb.
Mr. Boggs had bean a chaplain
with the army in Palestine during
the last war, and one of his duties
was to take,groups of troops on i
tour of the historic sites around
Jerusalem. He cloak his audience on
the same tow on this occasion..

Prest, w110 died in Alexandra Hospt-
lal in her 64411 year, was held at
the Cranston funeral home at 2.30
Saturday, conduebed by Rev. B. H,
Farr, Of Si. George's Anglican
Chua'ob, Interment was in
Maitland cemetery. Formerly Helen
J. Sheppard, she was born in God-
erich, e daughter of 'the late Albert
M. and Emily Middleton Sheppard,
and rad lived in Norto Battleford
and other Western point.s She
lived in Brussels, Ont., before re-
turning to Gaderich six years ago.
She was a member of St. George's
Anglican Church, and of Maple
Leaf Chapter, L 0. D. E. Surviving
are her husband, a retired bank
manager, three sons, Thomas of
Edmoniton; Wiliam M, Toronto end
,Tames E., of Goderich; also a
brother Find Sheppard, of St.
Petersburg, Fla.; end two sisters,
Mrs. Charles Garrow, of Toronto;
and Mrs. Edmund Champion, of
Weyburn, Sask.. Another son
Robert, was killed In action over-
seas In the S',cond World War,
