Q:—T lice alone and have only mY
ration book for my housekeeping.
Because my grocer refuses, to cut
a pound of batter in half T find it
very difficult to spread my allow-
! ance over the month. The grocer
tells me it is against the law for hum
to curt a pound of butter in half.
A:—There 9, no regulation of the
Wartinrne Prices and Trade 'Board
which prevents a dealer from cutt-
ing a pound of hatter in half. How-
ever. we understand the pure food
laws requires that all butlter sold
must bear the registered number of
the producer. Usually this number
is printed only in one place on the
wrapper and it the pound were cat
one half pound would remain without
the number. We cont:aated a large
dairy and have been informed that
they produce a half poenrl print,
which they would be ,glad to sell to
all grocers requiring them for their
customers.
