The 'Gentle" Sex
Noticing that fully -fashioned
stockings were on sale in a large
city store, a dignified, middle-aged
man decided to get his wife a
pair, but he soon found himself
buffeted about by frantic women.
He stood it as long as he could
then, with head lowered and arms
outstretched, he barged through
the crowd.
"You there," yelled a shrill voice,
'can't you sot like a gentleman?"
"rve been acting like re, gentle-
man for an hour,:l replied the man,
still charging forward, `but from now
on I'm going to act like a Iady."
Thrifty
A young ,Scotsman. went to the
teiegra:ph office one morning and
wired a proposal of marriage to
his sweetheart. Atter spending the
entire day and ,part of the night
waiting, he was finally rewarded
by an affirmative reply.
"If I were you," suggested the
operator. 'I'd think twice before
I'd marry a girl who kept me wait-
ing all daffy for my answer."
"Na, Na," replied the young
Scot. "The doss who wants for the
night rate is the lass for me,'"

Naturally, the sweet girl's father

`You're late again?" he stormed
"This won't do, You must tell that
boy friend of yours that late hours
are bad for one,"
"Yes, dead I—know," stns replied,
Then she added, with a sigh, "But
they are lovely far two."
