tificate for the purchase of a suit of

and must he honored by retailers until
the end of the year.
Is George Bernard Shaw right?
That one should not eat meat until
he is 100? A vegetarian, he gets
along happily and, heathfully, and
thinks the meat shortage will force
people to live longer. Read the re-
markable interview in The
American Weekly with this Sunday's
.August 4) issue of The Detroit
Sunday Times.

In Memoriam
In loving memory of my brother
'Dpr. Ross F. Whittard, who was killed
in Italy, July 21, 1944.
Beside your grave our thoughts
wander.
With hearts both crushed and sore,
But in the gloon the sweet words
comes,
Not lost but gone before,
God knows how much we miss you,
He counts the tears we shed,
And whispers he only sleeps,
Your loved one is not dead,
So we will be brave dear Brother,
By Way oR Explanation
Shortage of new supplies• of glass,
breakage .and the accumulation of
stocks of empty bottles, in the hands . {
of consumers have created a critical,
situation in the distribution of
bottled) beverages. Failure on the
part of consumers to return 'empties':•
for re -use has literally created s. 1
"bottle -neck" in the distribution,
process. j
A special appeal is currently being-
made
eingmade to purchasers of lighter,
beverages to clear the "empties"'
from summer cottages and cellars
and get them back to the pro..
duction line. Frozen assets in the,
form of empty bottles in core
suvters' hands only gather dust—but,
when they are returned to the mann•-
factures. they enable a broader,:
distribution of the product. Cartons
should also be returned in as good
condition as possible as tiie
quantity which can he, obtained Is
restricted.
