Mr. Howlett was absent, at Goderich on the jury. He had b'eeri ill during the past Fall and was unable to do the work. The act was a friendly, kindly one and much appreciated by Mr. and and Mrs. Howlett. - An unexpected visitor called at the. old home, near Sunshine, lust week, in the person of W. J. ' He hail been in failing health For the past Si years, commencing with a stroke of paralysis and only his good constitution length- ened out the span of lire. Deceased was born in Kitley township, near Smith's Falls, Out., and came with his father, the late Win. Mooney, to what was then known as the Queen's bush, the family taking up 400 acres Grown lands, Lots 2L_ 6, 27 and 28 on 511i line Morrie township. Henry Mooney located on the Rest mentioned, Jno, on the homestead and the father and sons, Robert, Thos., Geo., Sam„ and Wm, and 2 daughters taking the other 200. After cutting out a place for a home the subject of this notice was married over 55 years ago bo Miss Jane Stratton, Uxbridge, who sur- vives and through all the long years ptoved herself to be a true helpmeet. Hartley, Port Huron, have passed all before. Mr. Mooney always took an active part in the Orange Lodge at Brussels, was a charter member and also Co. Master of North Huron. It was very fitting that the brethren had a part in the funeral Tuesday afternoon, which was largely attended. Rev. Mr. Staf- ford deceased's pastor, conducted an appropriate service at the home, Ti church relationship the subject of this notice was a Methodist. He was an ardent Conservative. For yea's he was Collector of taxes in Morris and a School Trustee for many years. Rands announce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Jennie, to Stan- ley Wheeler, wedding to hike place at the home of the bride on the 27th inst. The trustees of S. S. No. 3, have en- gaged the services of Miss Annie Amos, of Ailsa Craig, Ont., at a salary of $625, duties to commence on Jan. 3rd. Harold Work, who has been the teacher, will don the uniform of a soldier of the King. The 100 acre farm, owned by Jas, Terry, Monkton, and known as the Neable farm, being Lot 29, Con. 12, has been purcnased by J. 141, Knight, who has had it leased for past S or 9 years. This gives Mr. Knight 550 acres. He will use the last purchase for pasturage. Mr. Knight goes ex- tensively into cattle and is feeding 120 head this Winter.
