the Memorial service for the late Lance
Corporal Charlie Forrest, recently killed
in France. Rev. Mr. Mann preached a
most appropriate sermon on "Saving
and losing life," Miss Isabel Straehau
sang, with good effect, "Face to Face "
Last Sunday evening Rev. Mr. Smith
preached a practical sermoa in St.
John's church on the subject "Why
some men do not come to church" from
the text Heb. 10-25• He suggested the
following reasons t—Auto riding for
mere pleasure ; visiting for mere pleas-
ure, not for Christian work ; the disease
Sabbaticus Morbus; because some men
say that they can enjoy patural religion.
That is insuffheieut, there le no view of
sin and salvation in natural religion, no
invitation to return to God ; because
some men are critical and dis-
gruntled ; because some men say the
church is the meeting place of women
and children.
