Mas- ters is now in England on ,leave, He has been at the front since July 1st, 1910, and so far has come off safe. - The butter factory has closed after doing a gond season's business. -Far- mers are busy taking up their turnips EXEPTOW TRIBURALS MILITARY SERVICE ACT 1917 For to Illation of Class One Men The location of The Exemption Tribunals in this district is as follows:— Tribunal Ont. No. 129—Brussels Ont. No. 128— Wingham These Tribunals will commence to deal with claims for exempticn on November 8th. All claims for exemption must be made not later than November 10th. Those who make or have made their claim for exemp- tion in writing through the Post Office will receive notice by registered letter of date on which their claim will be dealt with. Those who neglect to make use of the Post Office must present themselves in person at a Tribunal on November 8th, 9th or 10th, and they will then be informed as to when their claims will be dealt with. Reports for service must be made on or before November 10th through the Post Office. Severe penalties are provided by law for failure to report :Or service or claim exemption as above. R, and Mrs. Grainger and family, Molesworth, visited at W. Irwin'e on Sunday. T. and Mrs. Meahen received word that their eon, Pte. Tony had been wounded. His many friends hope it ie nothing serious. The barn of Mr. Albtigbt, 171,11 Con. Howick, was burned to the ground on Saturday while they were threshing, caused by friction in the Machine. It is a severe loss at this time of year. Wroxeter Clipped from Christian Guardian We are glad to note that the Military Medal has been awarded to Sergt. 'A. L. Russell, of the Sid Canadian - Labor Battalion, B. E. Ie., for heroic conduct under heavy shell fire. The Sergeant is a son of Rev, A. L. Russell, B. .A., B. D., a former pastor of Methodist church here. Seigt. Russel visited at the parsonage, when his father was on this circuit. NEWSY NOTES. -Mrs, Biehn and the Misses Ellintt, Chesley, attended the marriage of their cousin, Miss E. Smith, on Wednesday last. -George Gibson, son of a former townsman, Thos. Gibson, and nephew of J. R. Gibson, Ilea received a military medal for bravery in the field -Harvey and Mrs. Little, Toronto, spent several days recently with the latter'spatents, Robt, and Mrs. 131aek.-Nelsen Willis and Chas. Mrs, Oliver Turnbull, 15th Con., is almnet fully recovered from a very severe cold and a bad attack of her old enemy, -rheumatism. Mies Lizzie Hoover, who has- been filling a millinery position in the Queen city, arrived home Saturday night fora vacation. The 100 acre farm of Stanley Hem- ingway, Lot 5. Con. 10, has been sold to a Mr. Wilson, of Bellmore locality for the sum of 37,000. We under- stand Me. Hemingway purposes going to the West. Itis stated Mrs. Richard Bielby, formerly Mies Bella Botz, of the 11th Con., has a line crop this year on her farm near Kelfield, Sask., threshing 6000 bushels of wheat besides oats and other' grain. Mrs. Duncan McNair, one of our most highly respected residents had the misfortune while attending to her usual duties, at the home of her son, John McNair, to fall over the tongue of the wagon and dislocated' her shoulder. It was a very painful npelation getting it set for a woman of her years, being in her 80th year. It is very seldom Mrs. MeNair is laid aside as very few ladiee of her yeate are as active as she is. We trust she will soon be restored to her usual activity. Thursday afternoon of next week a clearing Auction Sale will be held at W. 0. Livingston's farm, East of Brussels. The farm has been sold. It is about 36 years since the Livingston family moved to this property, Mr. Livingston dying shortly after. The people of the coin. triunity will be sorry to see Mrs. Livingston and W. 0. reprove. Lundy on the dir- ectorate. The tine 150 acre farm of Dickson Bros. South. of Walton, has been bought by Fred. Oster, Brussels, who will get possession next Spring. Price paid was $10,000. The farm is in tip- top shape, with 'excellent house, barn, &o., and will make an ideal home for Mr, and Mrs. Oster and family, Dickson Bros. have lived on it for many years, They still own 60 acres across the gravel road, without buildings. Hallow'en went past as usual. A. few tricks played by the small boys, people in general take as a joke, but when some of the larger boys follow the joke up for a few nights after and give people the trouble of looking for their gates, and some of them not fouid yet, the fun begins to be a little stale. Red Cross annual Meeting Thursday evening of last week the annual meeting of Brussels Branch of the Red Cross Society was held in 111e audience room of the Public Library, the President in the chair.
