WHILE engaged in his work at the
Carter garage last week Earl Cunning-
ham had a bone broken in his right foot
by a part of a car landing on it owing to
a breakdown in the crane lifting the
load, The injury has been painful but
Earl still sticks at bis work.
BRUSSELS Horticultural Society will
hold a Flower. Show Saturday afternoon
and evening of this week in the Public
Library audience room at 2 30 and 7 30.
Exhibits will be sold for Red Cross
purposes No admission fee and the
public welcome. All members are ask-
ed to contribute cut flowers.
SCHOOL Board met Friday evening
and talked over the coal situation. It
was decided to interview the local deal-
ers and if nothing definite could be as-
sured to endeavor to secure the needed
supply through some other source, To
be without fuel at this season of the
year is not calculated to add comfort of
either body or mind.

title of an Entertainment to be put on
in Brussels Towo Hall next Tuesday
evehiug by the Belgrave Dramatic
Company, under the auspices of Brus-
sels Red Cross organization. rhe Play
has been presented in Winghatn, Tees -
water, Blyth, Auburn, Walton, Belgrave
and Clifford and has atttacted good
houses and is well spoken of, The
Belgrave friends make no charge for the
evening so that the whole proceeds go
to Patriotic purposes. Admission fee
has been placed at the low price of 25
cents and we hope a bumper crowd will
aid a good cause and enjoy the play
next Tuesdsy evening,

home, where C. A, will take charge of

the front. Mr. Crossfield is ail expert
poultry man and old friends here wish
him the success he desires.
Last week Chas. Brooks, a former
well know Brusselite, and ex -Reeve
Taylor, both of Exeter were in town
while going through to Gerrie and
Fordwich. They celled on a number of
old friends. The former was in busi.
ness here 35 years ago, associated with
his brother-in-law, Thos. Watson,
Their shop was located near the iron
bridge, where they did a large trade in
carriage making and blacksmithing.
Mr. Brooks stands the passing years

PRESBYTER' 07 MAITLAND.— The
Presbytery of Maitland met in Wing -
ham, Few elders were present owing
to the harvest operations. A call from
Dungannon and Port Albert was pre-
sented in favor of Rev. M P. Craig,
Bothwell, in the Presbytery of Chatham,

on the 18'1 inst.- A union committee
consisting of Moore Missions and Budd
et Committees was appointed to arrange

commission of the General Assembly,
addressed the Presbytery on "After -war
