HURON COUNTY MATTERS. -House of
Refuge Committee of the County Coun-
cil met 0u Tuesday of last week at the
House of Refuge, Clinton, passed the
quarterly accounts and mode an inspec-
lion of the building and grounds,
There are 88 inmates at present The
1 farm and crops look well. Instructions
were given for some drainage work on
the farm, wbich will be mostly done by
the inmates, under the direction of
Keeper Brown A. S. Chrystal, of
G derich, is to inspect the boiler and
heating plant, in preparation for the
coming cold season. The same day
Walden's Milne's Committee met and
had under discussion the question of
securing tractors to assist the farmers of
Huron County in their Fall plowing It
appears that the Provincial Department
of Agriculture has about seventy trac-
tors at wank in the Province, these be-
ingin charge of the District agricultural
r p.reseo'utters and alae object tieing to
s+: cure as large an acreage of Fall wheat
as possible. Huron has no district rep-
resentative and therefore no Government
tractors. The Committee decided to
ask the Government to send some trac-
