The Garden°Party held.at the home
of Jno. Mulvey, Friday evening under
the auspices of Belmore Women's In-
stitute, was a grand success. A bevy
of young girls waited on prettily dec-
orated tables set on the lawn. An in-
spiring patriotic address was given by
A. H. Musgrove, M. P. P. in hie usual
energetic style and there was also an
address by Rev. N. Sinclair. Tees -
water Orchestra, furnished the music
through the evening, Miss S, Fowler,
Teeswater, delighted the crowd with
a patriotic song, "Goodbye iny.soldier
boy," Much credit is due Mi'. and
Mrs. Mulvey on opening up their
home for such an occasion, also to
those who helped make the social snc-
cessftrl. Proceeds amounted to $200.
After the expenses are paid the entire
amount will be .handed over to the
Patriotic Fund.

A happy event occurred at the
home of Feed. Smith, or June 27th,
when his eldest daughter, Miss Emily
was metaled to Freda Hbdge, of this
community. Rev. Mr. Lundy per-
formed the ceremony in the presence
of a large company of relatives fuel
friends. Mr' and. Mrs. Hodge have
the good wishes of a wide circle of
Mewls for a long, happy and useful
life.
$320.85 was the proceeds of the Gar-
den Party tit Knox Church here last
Friday evening. A fine program was
rendered by the Lawrie children, of

This worthy couple celebrated the 00th Anniversary of their wedding,
at their home, on June 18th, amidst the hearty congratulations of rel-
atives and friends. THE POST gave a report of it then but had not the
above portrait at the time. This is a very correct likeness of Dir. and
Dlrs: Jewitt, both of whom enjoy comparative good health for folk in
their 81st year. Mr, Jewitt is a brother to our townsman, Wm.
Jewitt, who issoseriously ill at present.
By the birth of a daughter to the
home of W. L, and Mrs. Brandon,
Frohigher, Sask., A. T. and Mrs. Cole,

BARN BURNED.— Shortly after 6
o'clock Monday evenhtg.a large frame
barn on the 50 acre 1111103 of Wm.
Armstrong, 10th Con., (known as the
Zimmer farm) was struck by light-
ningand instantly stuntlq burst into flames
and was completely destroyed. Build-
ing which was coinparabieels, new and
with stabling and hen house Was soon
wiped out. Oontente consisted of 10
ton of hay, binder, mower, hay rake,
&c., also, 30 well bred Ancona fowl.

ENTERED INTO REST.—A good
woman has passed away in the per-
son of Mrs. F. Scott. Her maiden
narue was Elizabeth Lanbie, a native
of the parish of Tarbolton county,
Ayr, Scotland and a daughter of John
Lambie, of Tumock Hill. Her father
having died in the year 1857, Miss
Lambie and her mother, along with
other members of the fancily came to
Canada in 1860 and for a lithe made
