Eliot, manager of the: Bank of Mon-
treul; received the sad neve that his
only son, Lieut. Leo Eliot had been
killed in action. The young man was
with the Bank of Montreal at Hamil-
ton before the war and enlisted there.
He was well known here and. much
sympathy is expressed to his parents
for their deep lees.
WOUNDED AGAIN,—William:' Proud-
foot; 51 P. P., Centre Huron, received
word that his eon, Lieut, rWilliarp +
Proudfoot, had been wounded some•
where in France. "Lieut. Proudfoot
was in partnership with his father
before leavingfor overseas. He re-
signed from the town Council to enlist
with the 33rd Battalion. This is the
second time Lieut. Proudfoot has been
wounded.

Forrest, of Oranbrook, for the coming
year ata salary of 5800. She is clos-
ing 4a years at Summer vacation,
which is one of the beet evidences of
the satisfaction afforded by her excel-
lent work.
Last Saturday Mrs. Jabez Jermyn,
9th Con., arrived home from Toronto
where she had been undergoing
medical treatment. She was away
nearly 8 months, We hope she will
soon regain her old time vigor. Mr.
and Mrs. Jermyn purpose locating in
Brussels shortly.

Angus Brown. On account of this
Mr. Whitfield will hold a clearing
Auction Sale Friday afternoon of next
week so as to clear the way for giving

SUDDEN CALL.—The sad and sudden
oral of death came to the home of
Hugh W. McKay, 9th Con., when his
beloved wife, whose maiden name was
Isabella Campbell, of Hullett town-
ship, passed away peat:efully at the
age of 08 years and 8 months. De-
ceased %vas born in Sutherlandshire,
Scotland, and came to Canada with
her parents at the age of 24 years.
She was united to her now bereft
partner 2 years later and resided in
the Township of McKillop 18 years
and moved from there to the 9111 Con,
Lots 10 & 11, Grey, where deceased
passed away at 2;30 a, m. Thursday,
April 12th, She was an adherent of
the Presbyterian faith and was of a
jovial disposition which won her
nearly friends: Deceased was a good
wife, kind mother and true friend and
was blessed with a happy and content-
ed disposition. A beantiful floral
wreath of Beater bells and roses was
placed on the casket by the family.
Besides her husband she leaves to
mourn 2 sons and 2 daughters, Miss
Annie, at home ; Mrs. J. A. McLean
and Angus, of Craven, ;leek. ;and
Walter, of Milk River, Alberta. The
latter was unable to reach hero in
time for the funeral. Deceased also
had 8 brothers, William Oampbell, of
Oraak ; Hugh, of Eudetland, N. D.,
and Angus, of Castor, Alberta ; and
also 2 sisters, Mts. Jatnes McKay and
Mrs. William Forbes, both of Giey.

came suddenly to an old resident of
this neighborhood, Mrs, Adam Shol-
dice, who was in her 80th year. She
passed away at the home of W. H.
and Mrs, Anderson, Con. 14, McKillop,
with whom she was making her home,
Mrs. Anderson being a daughter.
