KERB. -It is with much pleasure that I take my pen in hand to write you these few lines, although we must be brief -because of military restrictions. I hope these few scatter. ed ideas or news might interest the readers of THE POST. In the fleet plaoe I must say that I am enjoying fine health with the ex- ception of a slight cold which, need- less to say, every chap gets when he the armylife. Of course we fo110tva t feel rather tired ab times, especially after a 8 or 10 mile route march with full marching equipment, which take it from me is no light weight. Well folks 1 without any further preliminaries I will continue with Pard facts. Hero we are in distant France and before you get this letter, we will be in the trenches opposite old Fritz, Our Battalion is re-enforoing the 68th Battalion and many of no Brussels boys are all Isere together. We sure have some good times amid our troubles, However we are here to uphold armada's honor and that we'll do even to our uttermost, Les- lie Lowry, Ohms, Forrest, Frank Shaw, Roy Thuell, Leelie Perris, Alf. Posliif, Will. Sholdice, Welter NIble, myself and others are here together and from this fact we are more cheerful, Have not seen Cleve. Deubow yet but might some clay. Poor chap 1;I can imagine him all alone, whereas we are together. I suppose you will be en- joying a sleigh -ride when this reaches yon, No snow here as yet but some- times very wet and mostly muddy, o the canary hero is The scene' f c ( y y very picturesque but not so up bio line -that is at the front, The people tells mostly Frenr.h but odd ones can speak a little English. The French money is mostly paper bills of frim'ia and centimes 1 a 5115110 being wotth 20 cents and a centime is 3 of a cent, It sure is odd but more easily reckoned than the Englieh money, It consisted of pounds (4), shillings, pence, fiotins, half crowns, crowns, guineas, eta, But after all give rue the old Cana- dian money of dollars and cents. Do you know readers that the trip all through has been very inter eating -especially the Erie day leave we haci in England before coming to Fiance. Chas., Frank and I went tip to Glas- gow, Paisley, Gonrocic and Gt'eenoelc. We visited relatives of the others at Goueork, which is outside of Port Glasgow, and we sure hada good time, Also returned t0 see many of the famous palaces, 'cathedrals anti Parlia- ment, buildings of the world's largest City -I ondon. We saw also where the late Lotti Kitchener. lived, the residence of Lloyd George, Dickens' Old Curiosity shop and many other in- teresting places. 1 might say here that if some of you wish to see a few of the pictures yon might ask brother "Bill." Have seen many of Frites prisoners since we landed and they sure look downhearted, The training 18 very interesting and very soon we will be practising on old Mite.
