FROM BNAMSBITT CAMP
Pte• Harry Mooney, former Brussels -

The following letter was received
1ast week from Pte. Barry Mooney, a
former t'esideut of Brussels, son of
Gordon and Mire, Mooney, of Manito-
ba, and nephew of Juo, and Mrs.
Slmtnous, Brussels
DEAR MR KERB.—At last after
traiuil/g all Summer at Carnp Hughes,
we have crossed the Atlantic and ar-
rived safely in old England. We
carne over iu the Grampian and were
on the boat two weeks. We had a
very smooth voyage but were happy
boys the morning we sighted land,
even if it was thousands of miles
away front home. We landed in
Liverpool Sunday ri m•ning, Nnv. 4th,
and were imrnediateiy put on the
train, which by the way, was an ob-
ject of much auhusement to ne boys.
At night the arrived here away in the
South of England, The country is
very pretty as far as scenery goes but
old Manitoba will take a lot of beating
yet. One thing is very noticeable and
that is the fact that there seems to be
just one thought in the mind of every,
man, woman and child, the winning
of the war. \Ve begin to realize Che
enormity, both of expense and sam'i-
fire to tellich Britain is subjected.
Every man physically flt under 41 is
forced to join and the woolen do their
work. Canada, though she has sacri-
flrt•d a Int, never will realize like Eng
land what it means to have the tear
at Lheir very doo1, if she did they
wouldn't need to hold out induce-
ments for young men to enlist, Out'
young Canadians world come to the
conclusion that it's a foolish policy to
wait till the enemy lands on British
soil before they show fight. Well,
Mr. Kerr, I didnn't, mean to write so
long a letter but I'd like to hear frons
some of my old friends in Brussels as
letters are moat welcome away over
here from all we know.
Yours sincerely.

AVIATOR McHAY WRITES
A. letter sent by Lieut. McKay
follows t
DEAR FRIEND.—This is Sunday and
as things are very quiet in the flying
line, I am taking the opportunity o
writing yon to let yon know the war
is still doing business in the same old
stand.
We have been visited with more or
less uncertain weather during the past
month and on account of this our
work has been decreased to a great
extent.
We have had a great many scraps,
however, After a bad day the Huns
always rnme out in great numbers
and lately they seem to have sum-
moned np a bit of enurage.
A (maple nrweeks age four of us
took on twenty Buns, all fast ones.
We got one Pach and the rest of them
"beetled" off home.
I suppose yo11 have read that Boelke
the best Hun airman, has been killed.
I was in the scrap in which he was
"done in."
