Tuesday night. She was in her 77th
year. Burial will be made in Brussels
cemetery Friday afternoon, She was a
fine old Lady.

MRs. GORDON HOWELL PAssEs AWAY.
—Mrs, S. T. Plum was called to Galt to
the funeral ot her sister in-law, Mrs.
Gordon Howell. who cited on Friday,
aged 66 years. An attack of pneumonia
was followed by a stroke 01 paralysis.
She was a fine woman and is survived by
her husband and three daughters, Mrs.
Stevenson, Cathcart ; Mrs. W. H.
Diamond, Wilmot; and Miss Edna at
home. Funeral took place on Sunday to
Bethel, Wilmot township, the old home
of the family. Mrs. ilow:ett's maiden
name was Miss Lucy Curtiss, of Galt.

Brusselite, has gone to Goderich where
he has opened a Furniture and Under-
taking business, He is 00 experienced
hand in these lines and will, no doubt,
do well.
Lloyd Jackson and George Edwards
are home from Stratford Collegiate.
They purpose joining the force who are
to aid the tillers of the soil in getting
in the crop and will not resume school
until the Fall term opens.

some years ago. It was a mutual
pleasure to both to have an 'hour's chat
on old times.

Lieut. Frank Scott was home for a
few days from the Military College,
London. He will complete his e01116e
in a few weeks more.
The Wroxeter soldier boys went
home by train last Thursday instead
of hiking it across elle 10 miles owing
to the rain and bad state of the roads.
Brussels Company is temporarily
reduced by the goodly nnenbee who
have gone to ail Ibe farming com-
munity but a member who have been
in quarantine for measles are out who
will get busy with the regular drill.
It appeals to be to foregone conclu-
sion the various Battalions of Wester-
ly Ontario will mobolize and train ab
London. Probabilities are the various
units will march to the Forest city
when the date is announced, which
will be toward the close of May.
Pres, Oppensizer and Haines have
joined what is called the Pioneer
Battalion of London, and will proceed
overseas 111 the near future. They left
for London on Thursday moruing.

We are pleased to hear that Miss
Margaret Hirons is recovering from an
attack of typhoid fever at her home in

Denver. Colorado. Mrs. Pringle has
sold her home and the business of her
husband, the late; Charles Pringle and

Colborne, ate his Easter eggs at the
home. of his parents. He purposes
donning the khaki in t1.e near future.
Many old friends about here wish him a
sale return after the war is over. Jno,
Henderson is also home from Toronto,
where he is teaching. .
Pte. O L. (John) Cavanagh, only son
of Mrs. (Dr) Cavanagh, Owen Sound,
formerly` of Brussels, and nn phew ot
Mrs, J. J. Gilpin and W. H, Kerr, left
Guelph last week with the battery for
overseas. It is only about a month or
so since be enlisted, Further training
will be done in England. We wish him
a safe return,

received word last eek of the demise of
Mrs. S. Castles, of Clinton, She was a

nursing her children through a measles
epidemic she fell ill with the same dis-
ease, pneumonia followed, death result-
ing. Mrs Castles was a fine woman.
She was a former resident of this 'mall.
