A Rallying Song Dedicated to the 16Ist Huron Battalion Rally round the colors boys, Hear the bugle call Huron's sons must ever be Heroes one and all ; Theirs to write a glorious name High in History's hall of fame. Rally round the dear old flag, Rise, like men ; be strong, Bookie well your armour, on To avenge the wrong; Britain's sons will never slack. Till they save the Union Jack. Rally round the colors boys, Since the dawn of time ; No crusader ever fought For aught so sublime ; Better death amid the strife Than a base and selfish life. Rally round your sovereign boys In the victors sheaf ; With the rose and fieur-de-lls, Twine the maple leaf. Those who fell amid the fray. From far Flanders call today. Rally round the Empire boys, This your valiant boast ; By the power of Him who died Smite the savage host, Until wars forever cease And He reigns, whose name is Peace. H. Isabel! Grabens THE OTHER SIDE DF THE CASE DEAR SIR,—To those who read the report of the MaLauchlin vs. Grant casein your recent issue, the follow- ing facts may be of interest. It is with no small measure of reluctance that 1 here state a few of the ugly facts in connection with the case and had I been given the privilege of re. futing these statements et the trial I would certainly not have ant ',gto say now, However as I am only doing what I am bound to accept as a duty that has been hanging over me for months I have no excuses to metre. in the writ- ten judgment the following appears : Defendant also swears that he said to the plaintiff "Scott is here with a surrender of Lease and that the best thing the could do, give it up, as Mrs. Sellars used us decent." Plaintiff said in reply:—"Strike him to knock of default i1) sowing agrees seed" and the defendant said "he would try—," He also swears that plaintiff ordered him to do the beat he could and sign the surrender and that he 'phoned him the next morning and the plaintiff seemed satisfied. Whether he told hits he had signed the surrender or had promised to do so makes little if any difference, the main point being that plaintiff appeared to be perfectly satisfied that a surrender should be made, nor do I see how the plaintiff can now complain. As to the 'phoning the next morn- ing it was I who did it to find out le Grant signed "any papers' without firatletting us know the particulars as he had volunteered to do. This he did not do until atter he had signed the surrender, as the "any papers" turned out to be, and then only by stating that he had not signed but had prnrnised to do so and this only when I called him on the 'phone as stated above. Scott having order- ed myself and two sons oil the Sellars farm that morning fraying "We do not recognize you in the lease at all and you have no business here, get off the place and stay off." It is surprising how these mighty then can wasp things to suit them. selves end to keep down the poor fel- low who ie endeavoring 10 get on to tetra firma, That I was satisfied must , have appeared very evident since took the fleet train to Wirtgbam to find ant f, nm sn(tcit n what t z should do in the eironutetiances. Yours Truly, N. S. MCLAuostbtn, in the statements of the defendant Grtaut fl'ont Lite words "Scott 18 here —to sign the snr'rendet" there is not one word of tenth es witnesseth the following who were present and heard everyword that was said, J OIiA' R.
