BROKE A RTIL-On the evening of the
Fall Fair as Postmaster Scott was pur-
suing his way on Turnberry street he
stepped on a banana peel, slipped and
fell, breaking a rib on his left side. It
was a painful injury. It would appear
that despite all the warnings given that
folk will throw stuff on the sidewalks
apparently caring little as to what the
results may be. Do you ever do such a
silly trick ?
Puritan MEETING.- In response to an
urgent cablegram Reeve Leckie bas
called a public meeting for Friday even-
ing of this week in the Town Hall at 8
o'clock, ta discuss plans of responding
to the call for further aid to the Red
Cross work overseas. There should be
a good attendance and in the meantime
people should be thinking on the ques-
tion so as to arrive at the best solution.
This is everybody's business, ladies as
well as gentlemen, hence the rally
should be representative.
WON'T STAND FOR XT. -It came to the
ears of East Huron Fell Fair Dtrectors
that there were some entries not the
straight goods at the recent Fair and
at the meeting last Saturday afternoon
the question was discussed. As far as
proof can be obtained no awards will be
made where entries are not in keeping
with the rules. Affidavits as to the
genuineness of the ownership will be
asked for as Directors are determined to
stamp out anything that savors of false
pretences, It is dud the competitors in
the same classes,

made application for the wet weather
grant from the Provincial Government
to offset a part of the loss of gate re-
ceipts by the rainy Fair Day and help
square off liabilities.
THE Directors of East Huron Agri-
cultural Society met last Saturday in the
Council Chamber to close up the busi-
ness of the Fall Fair for 2905. Friday
of this week Treasurer Black will com-
mence the payment of the prizes at the
Furniture store of Walker & Black.

and fell to the floor injuring one of her
hips. We hope she will soon be as well

F. S. Scott, who is chairman of the
Telephone Board of the Brussels, Grey
and Morrie Independent Co., attended
meeting of rural companies at Toronto
They decided to appeal the decision
rendered recently relating to the Bell
Co. and its powers in relation to the
independent companies.
BY Saturday night the North end of
Turnberry street, to the G. T. R. track,
will have received its coating of broken
stone, 1.6 feet wide. The steam roller
has its part to play with the necessary
filling in of shale and watering. It
should make a good roadway and will
likely get a good testing before a year
from now.
