Some ONIONs.—The mausgement of
Huron Co. House of Refuge are leaders
in onion cultivation and have every
reason to congratulate themselves. On
3 acres under cultivation they expended
$373 for seed and .the crop realized
$2514,90, a bet return of $2141 6o. The
yield, the best yet has all beet) sold and

of the shrewd management, for owing
to the falling off in the demand a con-

the County is still m the hands of the
producers.

INFosstnTiSN RE THE C. J'. AcT.—
The Provincial Liceuse Department is
issuing tor the first time in the history
of the province, separate copies of the
Canada Temperance Act. Until last
year so little interest was taken in this
form of temperance legislation that its
clauses were not carefully distinguished
on 1110 statutes. At the present time
the act is in force in Manitoulin and it is
reported to be w01kiu7 out well, Peel
and Huron counties where it comes into
force on May 1st next there is con-
siderable demand for copies of the
salute which is now presented in concise
pamphlet form.
'Penult AT HOME.—THE PORT has a
suggestion to make. Brussels, iu com-
mon with may other towns, has felt the
pressure of the times and this seems to
be a time when all um' citizens should
stand by each other and the town for
their mutual good. "Do your Christ-
mas:shopping early," is good advice, but
would it not be a good' plan to go one
better 2 Not only do it early but do it
right here in town. Our merchants
earry full and good stocks, they pay
taxes here and help to make the town a
pleasant place to live in. They should
receive the liberal patronage of our
citizens. Let us stand by Brussels, the
home town,
