DRBAT1,.—One of the beet debates
iu the history or the Literary Society
took place 00 Wednesday night of
last week, being a 0°ntest between
two debaters from Tornberry 'and
two representing the local Society.
The subject was "Resolved that
Napoleon was a greater Genet al than
Wellington.' A. L. Posliil'and J. W.
King spoke. for Napoleon while the
visitors, Wm, Mines and Stanley
Elliott, upheld the claims of Wel-
lington. Tho debate was vigorous
throughout and the• frequent out-
bursts of applause showed how much
it was enjoyed by the audience.
The judges were Rev. M. Laeklanll,
oP Wroxeter, Robt. Black and Gordon

A terrible accident happened Mon-
day morning at Dungannon, when
Stephen Deeves was instantly killed,
Mr. Deeves, who was running u
portable saw, was engaged in cutting
a pile of poles. A neighbor, who was
going to help him, was putting his
inose away, when the horse go,
frightened at the engine, the animal
plunged into the poles and threw Ml.
Deeves over on the saw. Part of his

months' trip to Ireland and England
spending most of their lime around
Belfast and Dublin, Ireland, and
Birmingham and Landon, England.
They report having a splendid time

onto, Mrs. David Campbell, and Mee,
Harty Grainger. of Grey) and 2
hrothere, (Henry, 1st Cos, Grey, and
Jim, of Melfnrt, Sask.) Be lived in
Grey until 4 years ago when they
moved Woot to Ochre River. Mani-,
toba. Last Jaivaty he went to
Rochester, Minnesota, where he
underwent an operation for 1 0nl0r on
the hila}n but the Drs. gave him no
relief. He went hack to Ochre Rivet,
rented his farm and sold his stock
and he and his family started for
home reaching here March 10111.
For 2 days he seemed to gain strong( h
and enjoyed the company elf his
friend. and neighbors and then he fail-
ed rapidly till the end carne just it week
after his arrival home. He was
an ait.ive and honored member of
the Met.hndist ehrrch at Ochre River
and was Superintendent of the Sun-
day School for 4 yeau'R• whirls posit inn
he held at the 111110 of his death. He
was laid to rest in the Molesworth
cemetery where his father, 4 brothers
and 1 sister are burled.
