brated his 82nd birthday last Monday in
the eujovrnent of a good degree of
health and ability to get ab int quite
smartly, He is a son of the Emerald
isle, being born in Kilkenny Co. but
lived in Co. Kildare later, Ai compel) -
ing his parents be came to Canada
when 17 year's of age, being six weeks
oa the Atlantic before Quebec was
sighted. The family located 20 miles
from Ottawa, making the trip in a small
steamer. When the land sale of these
Westerly Counties was on the Roe folk
came With the crowds and Howick and
Grey townships were the choice of
various members of the family, along

Greeu, founder of the Frederick Green
Furniture Company of this city, died
at his home, 187 James street, South,
yes erdav afternoon He hall been ail.
Ing for some time and the end was 110•
unexpected. Mr, Green was 67 years
of age and had had quite a remarkable
career. He was born in Lincolnshire.
England. but when he was only four
years of age the parents settled in
Michigan. When the great civil war
broke out, Fiecterick Green, a youth
of only 05 rears, enlisted in the army
of the North and at the age of 16 was
a sergeant, He was in active service
and saw Manu engagements and had the
experience of hong taken prisoner kith
his whole coin a'1,• and confined in the
Con fedetate prison at Anderson ville for

ar1te came to Caned and settled in Hamil-
ton thirty years ago For a number of
years he was engaged in the tea business

family residence, Postmaster Scott
