HERB. KIRKBY got to work this week

with the John street sewer. He is us•
ing his ditching machine which attracts
considerable attention. Work began
at the old flax mill property, Ta^.fes
street.

machine was attached to 'Thuell Bros.
traction engine and taken to the } mile
track on the Agricultural Park where
course was rounded up and the grass
and weeds cut off. Robert Oliver held
the levers on the road machine.

congratulations to Harry Moore, Muir
Thomson and Frank Scott in their suc-
cess in passing the Entrance to Faculty
amination. Harry Moore took
honors. Majority of the quartette will
attend the Faculty next term. Thos.
Armstrong, who is teaching at S. 8,
No. 3 Grey. wrote on Part B. and
passed o. Is. Miss Muriel Brothers,
who wrote at Toronto passed Part I of
exam, with honors. We hope the best
of success may attend the future steps
of these young folk.
Miss WISHAR'r CALLED TO HER REWARD.
--Many in Brussels and vicinity will be
sorry to bear that Miss Wishart, sister of
Rev. A. C. Wishart, B. A., of Calgary,
passed away on Sunday, at her home,
Fergus. Funeral took place on Tues-
day. Deceased bad been a great suf-
ferer for years but had borne it with
Christian fortitude and patience. She
will be kindly remembered here by her
winsome and ladylike manner in con-
nectiou with her stay at the manse
when her brother was pastor until 111
health compelled her to go home. Miss
Wishart was a young woman possessed
of many excellent qualities who made
friends wherever she went, Rev. Mr.
Wishart was home when she died re-
turning to his work at Calgary this
week. He will share in the sympathy
of many old friends here in the loss of
his clearly beloved sister.

MRS ALBERT HEWITT DIED -Friday
of last week Mary A. Moore beloved
wife of Albert Hewitt, passed away at
the home of her father, Rime township.
aged 45 years. She had been -very
nosily for same time and had been
brought home from the West the week
prior to her demise. I0 addition to Mr,
Hewitt there is a family of $ Children,
Funeral took place on Wednesday.

In the service. Interment was made
in the family plot in Listowel cemetery.
Deceased was a sister to M. H. Moore,
V. S., Brussels, and she and her hus-
band were former residents of Brussels,
afterward moving to Kincardine. Mrs.
Hewitt was beloved by a Wide circle of
relatives and friends who regret her
early demise and deeply sympathise
with the sorrowing relatives,
