DEBATE AT WROXETER.— Undelltlted
by the almost impassible condition of
the roads over a score of B. C. S
students and their supporters drove to
Wroxeter last Friday evening on the
occasion of the debate between 'the
Continuation Schools of the respective
towns. "Resolved that money has had
and has more influence on the world
than brains" was the subject well tis

held by Misses Mt rr.

and McKercher,
, while the champions of
tie" were Miss Jessie Menzies and
Hiss Gertrude Deadman, of Brussels.
Although the visitors did not have the
satisfaction of bringing home the
Favorable decision of the judges they
have every reason to be proud of the
repute' ion as public speakers which
their representaives established for
themselves. Their debut as orators
was marked with a success which as
sures them as factors to be reckoned
with on future occasions. Some of the
arguments advanced by the . negative
supporters centred in a definition of
brains taken from Webster's Diction-
ary. 'Phis, -the judicial censors ruled
should not be considered as an argu•
ment, consequently the honors went
to Wroxeter school. The tribunal
which acted as arbitrators in the con-
test was composed of Rev Mr Wesley
and'Mr. McTavish, both of Wroxeter,
and Athol McQuarrie, of Brussels. The
debate which was the principal event
of the evening was listened to by an
interested and attentive audience which
comfortably filled the Town Hall.
Other numbers an the program were
selections by an orchestra, vocal num-
bers, the reading of "Nos Affaires" the
Wroxeter school 'journal, and a short
play. Before the visitors turned their
faces homeward they enjoyed the
hospitality of the Northern 0211001 and
partook of tasty refreshments.
