weeks ago, is expected to terminate the
series of robberies which have been
committed in various parts of Huron
County during the past few months

Wednesday as a result of descriptions
sent out from here by Constable
Oliver and by High Constable White
sides, who has been on the trail. At the
same time arrests were made in Detroit
or suspected safe crackers. They are
under suspicion in connection with the
attempted safe robbery of the postofrice
here and also at Crediton. Burling,
Who was Dinsmore's Pel, since his arrest
in Goderich has given the authorities
considerable information. He informed
the High Constable that a box in a
furnished but unoccupied house in Brus-
sels was ready to he moved. On Wed-
nesday Constable Oliver searched all
Buell houses and in the residence of the
late A. Cook, Main street, North, he

Two IN THE 'Polls. -A. Strachan,
dry goods merchant of Brussels, was a
very cheerful and patient loser over the
repeated robberles-g in all -that has
taken place from his store. ' But the
last had grown to such proportions it
was decided to get right after the
thieves. How was it to be done? Mrs.
A McCullough, t; miles West of
Walton, was roused from her sleep by
the barking of the farm dogs and in
rising and looking out of the window
on this bright night or early morning
saw a man passing West. on the road
drawing a hand sleigh with a bundle
upon it. • Hearing of the robbery and
knowing that suspects were being
sought she told a neighbor of her ex-
perience and the news was sent to Mr.
Strachan, who t ten made the discovery
that bis delivery sleighPP had disappeared
from the store. Constable W hitesides
of Heosall was soon on the warpath and
the tell tale sleigh waS discovered under
the Blyth grain storehouse. A bundle
had been checked to Goderich and on
following the clue Edward Burling, of
Goderich was erre>ted and a good share
of the goods discovered at his home.
Part of the silk bad already been cut
nut ready for dressmaking. ' Burling
contes•ed and stated his pal was
Murphy or Dinsmore, who had boarded
with him tor a short time and who
was arrested Wednesday at Wind-
sor. Burling has a wife and
three children. It is to be hoped all
concerned with the cheeky robbery
may be apprehended and duly punish-
ed. 'rhe robbers made the tri from
Goderich to Welton per the 3 o'clock
train and had' footed it for the 5 miles
from Walton to Brussels Rumor had
it that an accomplice possibly lived in
Brussels and there appears to be..noth
in to rubstal, tiate the story, °About
$30o worth of goods were soden,
Constable Oliver, of Brussels, has been
on the alert and rendered good
service toward ferreting out the cul-
prits.
