MOLESWORTH
Deepest sympathy is extended to the
!farniiy and relatives of the- late Han-
nah Pointon of Howick township, who
passed; away on Tuesday night last
after a lingering illness. Her hus-
band, the late Richard Sharpin, .prede-
'ceased her forty-one years ago. Those
left to mourn the loss of a kind and
loving mother are: Mrs. John Batteras,
•Neepawa, Man.; Mrs. Arthur Talton,
Colorado; Mrs. Harry Sharpen, Man.;
'Mrs. Will Carlson, Kansas City; Mrs,
Thos. Vittte, Gorrie, and Mrs. John
Brown, Molesworth. two sons, WIII,
of Manitoba, and Robert, of Turnberry.
Those who attended the funeral from
afar were Willi and Mrs. Sharpin, of
Manitoba. The floral tributes were
beautiful showing the esteem in which
she Was held. Deceased was in her
eighty-fourth year. The funeral was
held on Saturday from the home of her
son-in-law, to Molesworth Cemetery.
GODERICH
James A. Sullivan, a native of Goder-
ich, and for 18 fears deputy Postmast-
er at Guelph, has been appointed Post-
master in that city, He is 57 years
of age.
The death took place on Saturday
of Alexander Taylor, M.D. The de-
ceased who was in his 79th year. ,was
one of Goderich's most popular cit.:

whom he came in contact, (both in
town and the surrounding 'country.
Born in, Bowenanvltle, where he re-
ceived his Iprirnary education, he grad-
uated (from Toronto Medical ''college.
Dr. Taylor had the honor of being the
first house surgeon of 'l'orontp General
Hospital, later 'moving to Londeshoro,
and in 1877 coming to Goderich, The
deceased was a member of Knox' Pres-
byterian Church, In which he took an
active (part, In ,politics he was a,Con-
servative, contesting unsuccess-
fully this riding for the Ontario House
against Hon. A, M. Ross. Dr. Taylor
far 8 number of years was a member
of the 'Collegiate Institute Board and
was surgeon for the county jail and
C, N. R. He is survived by one son,
Dr. Harold, at home, :His wide died
about one year ago. The funeral was
held on Tuesday afternoon from Knox
Church.

A very interesting evening was
spent in the schoolroom of the Blyth
Methodist church recently, when the
young people of the Presbyterian
chutch visited there and a debate was
held on the subject : "Resolved that
sten spend inure time on their
pleasures than woman," The affirm-
ative was taken by the Presbyterian_
representatives, including Alexander
Elliot and Hatold Jenkins, and the
Methodist society was represented by
Mise Ruth Vincent and Eddie Dugan,
who took the negative. The judges.
were Mrs. Hawkins, Mrs, J, Watson
and Mies Ella Metcalf. The decision
was given in favor of the affirmative.
Mrs. Worrell, president of the Meth-
odist Society, was in charge, of the
meeting. There was a large attend-
ance.

The last meeting of the Literary
Society for this season will he held in
the rot resters' Hall, Friday evening,
Aptil 3rd, The program will take
the forst of an old-time 'entertain-
ment, addresses, music and singing,
character songs in -old-time costume.
The regular April meeting of the
Women's Institute, will be held one
week later than ueual, April 18th,:
(during Easter vacatioi) at the home
of Mrs. Aitkin. The debate will be
given which was intended for the
March meeting. Current Events will
be taken by Mrs. P. D. King. A good
meeting is expected.

McKILLOP
The funeral of the late Mre. Robert
Smith, an old and esteemed resident
of the Township of Ilullett, took
place Thursday, March 26tb, from the
home of her daughter, Mrs. John Mc -
Glove, on the 1111: Ooneeseion, Mc-
Kiliop, inter went being Made in
Burne cemetery, Hullett. The service
was conducted by Rev. J. A. Fergus-
on. Mas Smith, who had attained
the advanced age of 85 years, bad
been in failing health for a number of
years, but hod only been confined to
bed for the past six weeks. Her
condition Dewane gradually worse
and she passed away on Tuesday,
Meaeh 24th. The deceased woman,
who was born- at Brantford, was 0
daughter of the late John and Mre.
Murray. She came to Tuck er-
eutith with her par en te when a child,
and in 1861 was united in marriage
to Robert Smith. For some years
they resided on the Mill Road, but in
1872 moved to Hullett Township,

Pie Social on Wednesday evening,

quartettes. The proceeds will go to
the Armenian Relief Fund,
A number of Mts. William Mann's
friends spent a very pleasant evening
listening to the Radio. Afterwaide a
tasty luncheon was served by the
hostess in her good style. The Radio
was installed about a year ago, we
understand," by her son William, in
the West as a gift to his patents.
On Wednesday evening, Aprid 15th,
under the auspices of the Y. W. A.
of Knox church, Moncrieff, the mem-
bers of St. John's Church, Brussels,
will present the comedy play, "Don't
Deceive Your Wife." This play has
been highly praised by all who have
heard it, so remember the date and

MUST EMPLOY ROAD SUPERINTEND•
ENT. -Under the new Act, which
went into force this year, the Govern-
ment insists that township employ a
road superintendent in order to share
in the Government Grant of 80 per
cent. of township road, expenditure.
The Government also pays half the
salary of the superintendent. What

80 years old and highly esteemed.

Rogerson who has been so poorly all
winter and who has just teturned
from Wingham Hospital, where she
took treatment, is some what improv-

through Prayer, Faith sad obedience.
