of yellow it does not follow that Brus-
selites are the same. Nor are they very
green, nor tiuged with blue but try to
treat everybody white. Perhaps the tint
could be designated Old Gold, We

BRUSSELS WON — Palmerston Ladies'
Softball Team motored to Brussels on
August 29th and played a game with
Brussels Sprouts It was a well played
match and resulted in a score of 14 to
in favor of the borne team. Umpires
were Ted McCrae for Palmerston and
Ross McKay for Brussels. At the close
of the match the visitors were served
lunch in the Public Library Board room
when a fine social time was enjoyed.
The Post congratulates Druggist Glen
Armstrong on the arrival of a son and
heir and hopes he may prove a great
blessing to the home. Mother and son
are doing well. The proud Daddy is a
son of William and Mrs. Armstrong,
Brussels, Rod is well known as oue of the

Mrs. George Garton sr„ passed away at
the home of ber daughter, Mrs. Tno,
Rutledge, Brussels, on Saturday Aug-
ust 3051a, She leaves to mourn ber, 4
sons and 4 daughters, George, Luck -
now 1 Edward, Brussels ; and Jack,
Port Huron ; and Will , Ridgeclow,
Alta. Daughters are (Maggie,) Mrs,
Rutledge. (Mabel,) Mrs, Sinclair, Brus-
sels. A son, Sam„ predeceased ber a
few years ago, and '1'otn was killed in
the Great War, Funeral took place
from her home in Whitechurch, to
'Wingbam cemetery on Tuesday, Rev.
las. Scobie taking the services, Mrs.
Garton had been in bed since last Pall,
She was a member of the Presbyterian
Church and the community extend
sympathy to the bereaved family to the
loss of a loving mother,

weekly visite to the Queen's Hotel, Brussels,

last week Robert Dark left for the West
in response to a call stating that his son-
in-law, Clifford Phillips, a merchant at
Roleau`Sask , bad undergone a serious
operation. Mrs. Dark has been out there
tor several months on account of the
ness of Mrs. Phillips, a daughter, who is
much improved in health now. Mr.
Dark expects to be back to town in the

R. Elliott is taking charge of Brussels
Cemetery as Caretaker, and also looking

Our girls gave the winners a
lively chase but were minus tI at the
close of the' play, Brussels was rattled
somewhat by the odd delivery of the
pitcher, Miss Wilson, who was a good
cue, 4 coats of whitewash were admin-
istered by Moorefield, who received 3 in
return. Our battery, Doris Ross and

reverted to afternoon instead of morning
sessions once more,

cupied the pulpit of Melville church
last Sunday, preaching interesting and
instructive sermons,
Rev. J. P. McLeod will preach next
Sunday morning in Melville church in
connection with the 0- T. A. Plebiscite,
Next Sabbath Rev, T. C. Wilkinson,
Bluevale, will conduct the services in
the Methodist church at II a. m. and 7
p in. The pastor will be preaching on
Blnevale circuit.
The semi-annual meeting of Maitland
Presbyterial Women's Missionary Socie-
ty will be held in the Presbyterian
Church, Wingham, Monday, September
IStb. Morning session at to 3o and af-
ternoon session at 1,3o. Rev, Mr. Mc-
Kinnon, Halifax, Moderator of General
Assembly. will be present to address the
gathering.
The rebuilding of Brussels Methodist
church proceeds, slow but sere. Brick
work is done, carpentering is well ad•
canoed, new fir ceiling is in and the
painters' work on it finished. Lathing
and plastering comes next, followed up
by the new inclined floor, Building
Committee is dealing with the question
of leaded windows this week. When
the work is all finished it will be pleas-
ing to most folk. 2 new furnaces have
arrived and the wiring for Hydro is
ready for the connections. The new
seating equipment is being considered
and also the question of an organ for the
choir to replace the one desttoved by the
fire In tbe meantime the church ser-
vices are being held in the Lecture
Room of the church. Initial steps are
being taken for the re -opening services
in which 3 Sabbaths may be occupied,
A time of rejoicing is being looked for-
ward to.

ing on relatives and friends in Brussels
last week.
Mrs. 13 Gerry, Fort William, a former
well known Brusselite, has not been as
well as usual of late. We hope for early
imnrovement.
F. W and Mrs Pelham and children,
of I ondou locality. were visitors at the
Parsonage, Mrs. Pelham is Rev. Mr.
Clarke's sister.
Archer Grewar has gone to Wood-
stock. Ont.. where he will attend the
Boys' School. He will board and room
at the School

Biggar, was here for as holiday visit
with relatives and frleods, His father,
Wm Dark, accompanied him to Detroit,
where they visited relatives, the former
going on to his home.
Percy Mitchell left for Kelfield, Sask.,
last week to belp off with the harvest.
He still owns farm property there.' Crops
are not as good as usual around Kelffeld
this year. Mr. Mitchell will be absent for
2 months,
