THE sad news was received here of the
sudden death of Mrs. Emerson Bean
nee May Reading, of Windsor, on
Tuesday of last week. Fuueral took
place Friday. Deceased was a daughter
of J. sed Mrs. Reading, Windsor, for-
merly of Wingham. She was a niece of
George Brown, formerly ot town, now
in Toronto.

resident of Brussels and locality for the
past 5o years. left for Tillamock, Or-
egon, with her niece Mrs, I. H. Moore,
who came to take Mrs. Cardiff to live
with her, Mrs, Cardiff is 85 years of age
and enjoyed the respect of a wide circle
of relatives and friends, A numbeeof
lady friends presented. Mrs. Cardiff
with a flue silk umbrella as a token of
regerd, The recipient briefly expressed,
her thanks for the fine gift, Many good
wishes accompany the travellers for a
safe journey to Uncle Sam's land.

choir and other matters of interest.

attend service in the Methodist Church.,

Melville Cburcb Young Peoples'
Society donated $5o.00 toward a Com•
triunity Hall to be built on the Mission
field in Manitoba, where Eat) Ander

and September Rev. J. M. McLeod will
have a vacation from his duties as paster
of Melville,church to rebuild bis health,
which has not been of a rugged type for
some months. We hope the rest will ac-

Jewitt, a former resident of this locality,

H. J. Uren, pastor of Colborne St,
Church. London, who was chosen on
the tstballot. He filled the post with
ability and dignity.

Last Sabbath was anniversary day . in
Melville church, and the services were
specially interesting. barge congrega-
tiops attended and the pulpit was well
filled by Rev. Dr. Harkness, Ripley.
The pastor, Rev. Mr. McLeod, assisted
in the evening service. Finaucial pro-
ceeds of the day totalled $3oo. At the
morning service -the text was Hebrews 6,
"Whither the forerunner is for us en-
tered, even Jesus, made an high Priest
forever atter the order of Melchisedec,"
The Bible presents 3 great phases of our
Lord (I) As he was while here in the
flesh ; (2) As be is now ; (3) As He shall
be when He comes again. The text
deals with Jesus as he is, Melchise dec,

had bread and wine, the memorials of
