is grouped with Ethel, Monkton and
Wroxeter in the District round -up. The
schedule is not yet to hand.
TULIP bed at tbe Public Library has
donned its Spring Millinery. This plot
is under the special care of Druggist
Fox, as an officer of the Horticultural
Society. The bed attracts no small at-
tention all Summer.
ANNUAL meeting of Brussels Women's
Institute will be held at the home of Mrs.
Peter Scott, Friday afternoon of this
week, at 3 o'clock. Officers will be el-
ected by ballot for the ensuing term. A
good representation of members is re-
quested. Lunch will be served.

sels, by well known Blyth talent, Tues-

MRS, GEORGE N. EDwARDs PASSES
AwAY.—Last week THE PosT made re-
ference to the birth of a son to George
N. and Mrs. Edwards, at St. Joseph's
hospital, London, the Saturday pre-
vious, and both were said to be doing
well, Peritonitis set in, however with
the mother and before THE Pose' bad
completed running off its edition the
very sad news was received that death
had ensued about le a. m. Wednesday.
The casket was brought to the borne of
deceased's brother, Joseph Gaffney, Kee-
111cott, Logan township, service was
held in St. Bridget's Church Friday
morning, after which interment was
made in the family plot in Mitch 11
Rev. Fr. Gaffney, Clinton, was assisted
by Revels Fre, Reny, White, Macke~on,
Flussey and Rev, Dean Hanlon. The
floral offerings were beautiful and con-
sisted of wreaths from husband and
(Grade 7 Tecumseh School, London,
where Mr. Edwards is teaching); cross,
John end Mrs. Gaffney; wreath from

from Hunt Brae., Loudon, (with v'bom
deceased was book-keeper in ber maiden

Deceased was greatly beloved by all wbo
klaew her, Her loving manner and win•
ping smile made friends for her wher-
ever site went, She is survived by her
husband and baby son ; 3 brothers (Pat-
rick, Eagle River, Wis. ; John and
Joseph, Logan ;) and 5 sisters (Mrs, T.
Regan, and Mrs, S. Gmtnt, Logan';
Miss Alice and Mrs, Murphy, Stretford ;
end Miss Margaret, Loudon) who are
large sharers in the sympathy of a wide
circle of relatives and friende, Mrs,
.Edwards' parents predeceased her a few
years ago,

funeral of the late ex -Reeve Churchill,
Goderich township, who was killed near
Clinton last Thursday by the train,

last the Concert of the Loyal Temper-
ance Legion was held in Melville cburch
Despite the unfavorable weather there
was a goodly attendance. Hymn 773,
"Standing by a Purpose True," was
sung, after which Rev. Mr, McLeod,
who was Cbairman, led in prayer. This
was followed by Chairman's address,
which proved both interesting and in-
structive along Temperance lines. Facts

we be alive to the seriousness of the sit-

ada, held in the National Training

tioa" was Rev. Mr. Clarke's theme last
Sabbath morning in the Methodist
Church. In the evening the sermon
related to Mothers' Day, text being
"Her children rise up and call her bleep
ed,"—a photograph of a good mother.
Mrs. W. C, Procter sang an appropriate
solo in the morning and Miss Marjory
lloover at evening service.
In Melville Sabbath School Mothers'
Day was observed by a service in honor
of mothers. 'rhe Mothers' Day pro-
gram was used and readings and reci•
talions given by the children. Singing
was led by a choir of senior boys and
girls. Address by pastor was on "What
we owe our mothers." Many of the
mothers and fathers honored tbe Sab.
bath School by their presence and en-
joyed the service.
R. D. Cameron, Luoknow, was high-
ly complimented while in attendance at
the Presbyteriau Synod at Woodstock.
Synod bad been instructed by General
Assembly to appoint zo representatives
to the first General Council of the pro-
posed United Church of Canada to be
held if, and when union takes place.
Mr. Cameron was agreeably surprised to
find that be was among the zo appoint-
ed.
At tbe morning service in Melville
Church last Sabbath the pastor took as
bis text I Cor. 4 4 "He that judgetb
me is the Lord." Speaker dealt with
the three Courts before which our
actions are judged. (r) The Court of
public opinion—to wbich we are liable
to defer too slavishly. (2) Conscience,
which is not an infallible guide but de-
velops as thought develops; (3) The
final Court of Judgment—The Lord.
Against the decision of this Court there
is no appeal. Evening sebject' in honor
of mothers, was Earth's greatest
trag»dy—"A mother's broken heart,"
based on Genesis 4: y :—"If thou doest
wel: shalt thou not be accepted ? and if
thou doest not well sin lieth at the door,"

Annual celebration of Mothers' Day
was held last Sunday afternoon in the
Methodist Sabbath School. The print-
ed program was followed, which includ-

to mothers by Miss Margaret Maunders ;
recitations by Russel Farrow, Stewart
Pierce, Gordon Wheeler, Marion Mc-
Cauley and Helen Backer ; solo by Mil-
dred Spading ; Address by the pastor.

sented to Mrs W. Rands, as tbe oldest
teacher in the school ; to Mrs. R. T,
Hingston as the oldest pupil 1 and to
William Harris, infant son of W. H. and

Mrs. Thuell, attended the funeral of
their cousin, the late Hugh Hill, last
Monday. Interment was made in Clin•
ton cemetery, Tbere was a very
Ierge gathering. His death was pecul-
iarly sad and the bereaved are deeply
sympathised with in their sudden sor
row. Mrs. Hibbert, a daughter, passed
away a few weeks ago.
