sad incident refers to a brother of
George Dawson formerly on the Stand-

son, Woodstock, hydro lineman, was
instantly killedWednesday of last week
near Springford when 13,000 volts pas.

with the other linemen, was doing re-
pair work on the Woodstock -T lisen-
berg line and in some unknown man•

live wire and he was electrocuted,

hand and another on the other wrist,
He also sustained a broken leg in his
fall. Deceased, who was about 30 years
of age, was only married 5 weeks ago to
Miss Eakins, Woodstock, sod he was a
veterae of the Great War, having serv-
ed overseas with the 7rst battalion,
Mr. Dawson, better known as "Jack,"
had lived since he wet q years old with
Sheriff McGhie, of Oxford County.

Tribune of March gut, speaks as follows
of Wm. L. Roche, a former resident of
Brussels : --William Lewis Roche,
prominent in Winnipeg sporting circles
of a decade ago and connected with the
old Shamrock baseball club of rero-rt,
died at the family residence, 622 Home
st., Sunday evening at 8.3o o'clock.
Mr. Roche, who was 4o years old, bad
been ill for the past 7 months but up
until a week ago had pot been in a
serious condition. "Biil" Roche was
born in the town or Petrolia, Ont„ 1n
1884. His parents were the late Richard
Roche and Anna Roche. They were
well known citizens of that district, Mr,
Roche being a prominent hotel keeper
and farmer. The whole family came to
Winnipeg in 2902 and have lived here
ever since, Billy was educated in St.
Mary's school and attended St.
Edward's church where he got his first
Kart as a baseball player. He belonged
to several sporting clubs, among which
were the Civic Curliug club, Shamrock,
Knights of Pythias, He was also a
horse fancier. He is survived by his
metoer, and 3 sisters: Mrs. J. Bruton.

Last week Mrs. Robert Dark was
summoned to Roleau Sask., on account
of the serious illness of her eldest daugh-
ter, Mrs, Clifford, J Phillips, from
pneumonia She left last Friday after-
noon. We hope Mrs. Phillips will ere
this have taken a change for the better
and will soon be convalescent.

Mrs. James Duncan, an old and well
known resident of this locality, is home
from a visit of 3 months with relatives
and friends at Lindsay. There are 8
brothers and sisters living, 5 of them
over 7o years, oldest brother having
passed his 8otb birthday. Mrs. Den -
ten celebrated her 75th birthday last
Tuesday in the enjoyment of a good
degree of health. THE PosT congratu-
lates. She came to this locality in 3876.
Her family' consists of 6 sons and a
daughter. Mr, Duncan is deceased
several years.
We are sorry to hear of the illness of
Milton Oliver, who is Linotype operator
on the Godericb Signal staff. His
rouble is a beilding ear. His smother
went to the Comity town to help look
fter him. Ord friends here wish him a
nick recovery. Later report says he
