Toox A BITE.—While Edward Pol-
lard was patting the blanket on a horse
in the stable one day last week, the
animal reached round and grabbed Mr.
Pollard by the side, and with emphasis.
The mark was left, even through the
clothing. The equine has shown no
symptoms of ugliness and it is supposed
it was done in play but Ed, don't want
any more pranks of that kind as he is
not anxious for vaccination In that way.

ANNUAL RE.IINION.—The At Home
held by Western Star Lodge I O. 0 F.,
in their lodge room last Thursday even-
ing was attended by a large company of
ladies and gentlemen. Evening was
l irgely given over to games. A Veteran
jewel for 25 years' membership was
presented by the Lodge to D. M. Scott,
Wm, Clouse, P. I). D., officiating and
Mrs. Scott pinning it on. Mr. Scott
made a befitting reply. A bountiful
lunch, for•whin the lodge is noted, was
served and the company separated after
singing Auld Lang Syne, The I, O. O.
F, has a large membership and a live
set of officers. Western Star Degree
team is not superseded by many. There
have been 21 .VeterrimMedals presented
in the lodge and there are others who
will soon reach the goal and receive the
same recognition, Lodge meets each
Thursday evening and is always ready

MRS. FRANK HIBBERT PASSER.—We
are again reminded of the uncertainty
of life by the death Mrs. Frank Hibbert,
which sad event occurred Monday even-
ing of last week at her late home in
Auburn. Deceased was born in the
township of Hullett 32 years ago. where
her youthful days were spent. After
her marriage with Mr. Hibbert 'they
spent a short time at Fort Francis going
to the village 5 or 6 years ago, where
she has since resided. Mr. Hibbert has
the sympathy of the community on be-
ing so early bereft of bis companion in
life. She is survived by one child
and her father and mother and a broth•
er. Thursday her remains were in-
terred in Clinton cemetery, Will,
Thuell and Mrs, Robert 'i'huell, - Brus-
Sels,.attended, They are cousins of
deceased.

Dr Parker is back from an enjoyable
visit to Florida and will resume his
visits to Brussels next week.
Mrs. Stevens, is seriously i11 at the
home of her daughter, Mrs. Wilkins,
Elisabeth street, 1, and Mrs. Fox, Strat-
ford, and Mrs, Agar, Teeswater are here
on account of the old lady's illness
The visiting ladies are daughters of the
patient.
We are sorry to state that Winnifred
McMillan, John street, bas been quaran-
tined for scarlet fever but we hope she
will soon be able to be about as usual,
none the worse of her temporary with-
drawal from school, church, &c.
Cleve and Mrs. Backer were in Toron-

tive to the health of their baby daughter.

Elizabeth is evidencing, improvement,
which we trust will continue until com-
plete convalescence is attained.
