Stewart Sanderson, son of D. D.
Sanderson, narrowly escaped eerioue
injury at his home Saturday, when a
barn door fell, striking him on the
head and rendering him unconscious
for about 20 hours. Re has since re-
covered and is apparently none the
worse except for bruises en the head
and shoulder.
A bean supper under the auspices of
the Union Mission Band, was served
in the basement of the Presbyterian
Church Thursday evening. : There
was agood. attendance and proceeds
amounted to $17,00, Hearts and
other valentine decorations were
prominent. '
Owing to continued throat trouble,
Rev. A. 0. Ferguson has resigned as
pastor of the Presbyterian church.
Mr. Ferguson has only been in charge

Last Saturday Mre. Jno. McLeod,
who lived at Silver Cornet's, passed
away. She hadanffored a stroke of
paralysis sumo time ago. She is eur-
vived by her husband and family.
Deceased was a easter to John Glassier,
of Bruesele, and enjoyed the esteem of
a large timelier.. Sympathy is accord-
ed the bereaved,

of aluminum ware from friends and
neighbors who gathered at the home

DAMAGE of $1,000,—At 9.40 Friday
morning fire broke out in the bakery
of F. J. Brown & Company. The
blaze was caused by the stove igniting
the prover, and owing to the dryness
of the bakeshop it was impossible for
the baker, who was in the shop at the
time, to extinguish the fire, and he
had barely time to escape before. the
whole interior was in fiamesl' Own-
ing to quick response of the Bre
brigade the blaze wae'soon under con-
trol. The damage to the interior and
the stock is estimated at 81,000, all
covered by insurance,

MRS. JANE HAMIL'rrN DECEASED,
—One of the pioneers of Huron
County in the petean of Mrs. Jane
Hamilton, widuw of the. late Thomas
Hamilton, of Colborne Township, died
rp Wednesday, of last week. Mrs,
Hamilton was in her 88th year. She
.sae born in Ireland and came to this
country when quite young, In re-
ligion she was a staaneh Anglican of
the Irish Evangelical School. Mrs.
Hamilton is survived by 10 children :--

DEAR EDITOR,—Find enclosed sub-
scription for THE POST. l; look for-
ward for it every Tuesday as it keeps
me posted as to town and country.
I notice quite a number of changes
since I came West 20 years ago, The
crop here was good the last .harvest
but it took most of it to pay running
expenses. Prices are small at local
elevators, 70 cents for No. 2 Northern.
Around 14 cts. for threshing a bushel
of wheat. We are all well t present.

ALBERT GOEIIEL DIES SnDDENLY.—
Death came with startling suddenness
to Albert Goebel, Mitchell, at about 7
o'clock Monday evening of last week.
For many years the late Mr. Goebel
conducted a.jewelery business in Mit-
chell and was well and favorably
known throughout the entire district.
He Wad barn in Mitchell about 68
years ago and neatly all his life was
spent there. He was a liberal hearted
citizen and never refused a donation
for any good cause and was a sup-
porter of all amateur sporting organ-
izations, Deceased was about hie
business place as usual on Monday,
During the afternoon he had not been
feeling well and consulted his physl-.
clan, After the day's work he retired
to his home and while sitting fn a
chair reading his dailypaper, he, sed-
donly collapsed and fell to the floor.
Mrs, Goebel 'immediately summoned
help, but it was of no avail as he pass..
ed away within a few minutes, Be•
sides his wife he leaves to mourn their
loss, a brother and a sister, Fred.

Adam Koenig. Paris, formerly of
