He afterwards owned. the Electric Light
plant in Brussels. His eldest daughter

favorable progress now we are glad to

Clare, his daughter of Newark, N. J,
were visitors with Mrs. R. D. Kerr, dur-

Mrs. T. A. Hawkshaw, nee Miss
Margaret Ament, Husser, Alberta, is
here on a visit to the parental borne,
'rurnberry street, Brussels, arriving last
Monday.
Will. Mitchell, tonsorial artist, bas
gone to Detroit where he is employed at
his trade. Mrs. Mitchell is remaining
here in the meantime keeping house for
her father, Councillor Hewitt.
Norman Smith, hardware merthaet of
Borden, Sask , is here for a short visit
with relatives and old friends. His
daughter, Ruby has beeu spending the
Winter with her grandmother, Mrs. J.
R Smith, in Brussels.
J. Lamont, Ba-rister, Toronto has
purchased the legal practice and library
of the late Malcomson, Kincardine
and will take possession about the 15th
of Tannery. We wish him success and
believe the people of that locality will
find Mr. Lamont worthy of,their high-
est esteem, He is a Brussels old boy
who has made good.

Cattiarim Frith, relict of the late John
Howard, passed away at the home of
Alex and Mrs. Anderson, the latter be-
ing a grand daughter, iu her 8.2ed year.
She was born in Germany and came to
Grey township with her sister, the late
Mrs. Jno. Long, when It years of age.
1863 deceased was married to Mr,
Howard and they lived continuously in
Grey until retiring from relining 23
years ago when they took up residence
in Brussels. Mr. Howatd died 37 years
ago.6 children were both to the;
family, 3 of whom are deceased, viz..
Mrs. W. Bray, Mrs. W. Mahan and
Mrs. Andrew Mahn. survivors are
Mrs. Jno. Louttit and Mrs. D. Brown
and Jae. Howerd, on the hotnestead,
54th Con. Grey township. Mrs.
Howard made her home with the
Andersons for past Q years. The
subject of this notice was a very iudus-
trims woman, neat as It pio, kindly in
her mauler and was a faithfu1 •menthes
of the Methodist ehureh, whose Me was
the best evidence of her professioil.

charge of the services hi Melville
church during tbe absence of the pastor,
who as haterirn Moderator for Cranbrook
and Ethel congregatiotee was preaching
the pulpits of these churches vacant.
In the manatee Mr, Moore took as his
subject "Lessons from Paul's sea
voyage" and in the evening the 23rd
Psalm formed the basis of thought. Mr.
Moore is an earnest. thoughtful speaker
and will be welcomed back on future
occasions.
