Kennedy, who is re- moving' from this charge, with a fine brass Jardinere, accompanied by their best wishes; Presentation was made at Mrs. Robert Bremmer's, by Mrs: R. Barr. Owing to the Christmas rush it was too busy a time to hold a meet- ing. Mrs. Kennedy made a' brief re- ply expressing her good wishes for the success of the Society of which she bad been a member for years and was a fine worker, Morris Everett Nichol was home for Christ- mas from Detroit. He is employed in the Ford plant and likes his job. The 100 acre farm of Joe Davidson, of London, located on the 3rd line, Morris township, has been sold to J. H. who live across e the road from it. Purchaser will utilize it for pasturage, we understand. Mrs. W. H. Ferguson Toronto, was here during the past week visiting old friends. She is enjoying life in the Queen City and the members of the familyinaking favorable progress in their various pursuits, Mrs. Robert Clark and daughter, Doris, of Calgary, are here on a visit with relatives. The former is a daughtel'nf, the late James and Mrs, Russell. It is 8 years since Mrs. Clark was hone before. Mt'. Clark is a brother to James Clarke, of the 5th line, The weather has been so mild stock hada long range outside but Jack Frost has crimped things up so that the stable or shed is called into req- uisition. There are a few instances where live stock is still in . the fields but the Humane Society will have to see about the housing if the owners neglect this duty, Theladies will have a hand in the Municipal Election this year, so if next Monday is a fine day no doubt many of them will record their vote for the candidates of their choice. A Reeve and 4 Councillors may be voted for as this is the number to be chosen that day. Thos. Bone, was re-elected Trustee for the next term in S. S. No. 6, at the annual lmeeting and Cecil Bone was re -appointed Secretary -Treasurer. Wood supply, 12 cords 20 inch„ was given to Wm. Moses at $400. Care- taking is done by the pupils. The lir- specter's inspecter's report says -Miss Ernestine Sellers is doing satisfactory work its teacher. Francis Duncan and Thos. Pierce are the other Trustees, A new school building will be one of the pro- jects before many years, Attendance of pupils is small, only 10 on the roll, OLD RESIDENT OF STH LINE PASSES AWAY. -At 5.80 p. m. last Friday James Lawson, an old and well known resident of Morris, passed that bourne from whence no traveller returns. He had not been very well for the Past 2 months but accompanied Will, Kearney, his son-in-law, with whom he made his home, to Brussels the Monday previous, Mr. Lawson was born it) Lanark Co„ Ontario, nearly 83 years ago and he was the last of that generation. He came West about 1803, his father having taken up Si Lot 20, Con. 8, from the Crown and chopped in the Winter on the new. possession, 52 year ago deceased married Mies Lillas McFarlane of the home locality in the East and they located, on the homestead here. ENTERED INTO REST. -News of the death of Mrs, Stanley Henning which took place at the home of her father„ in-law, Herbert Henning, early Fri- day morning, created a feeling of deepest sorrow in the village, • She was in her 35th year. Her maiden name was Florence Rae, beingthe only daughter of David Rae and the late Mrs. Rae, of Howick. She Was married 7 years ago, leaving with her husband for Sirose, Sask,, wherethe latter engaged in farming. As the result of a critical illness, deceased're- turned 'here 4 years ago, but in spite of every care, never regained her , strength. She was a popular gird in the neighborhood, of a kindly disposi- tion, and an active worker in ,the,, Presbyterian church. • :Her demise calls for many expressions of regret.` She is survived by her husband, a young son, Rae, her father .and 2 brothers, John, of Lady, and David, of Howick.
