speaking of Premier Meighen's visit to
that town last Friday says :-"More
than go years ago Sir John A. Macdon-

Perth electors in this town. This after-
noon a new and younger prime minister
proclaimed the benefits of tariff protec-
tion, and as he set upon the platform at
St. Marys Rink, Rt, Hon. Arthur Meig-
hen used the same easy chair which Sir
John did on the occasion referred to
many years ago. This link with en
historic occasion is the property of R. T.
and Mrs, Gilpin, of St. Marys, who pro-
vided the chair from their home. Al-
though Mr, Gilpin is 96, and his good
wife 94, both were present that after-
noon, as well as Mrs. Atkinson, of

number of other, elderly people who

NRwsY NOTE FROM REV. MR. Wrsti-
ART.-DEAR MR, KURR: -The label on
my POST reminds me of duty neglected
which I herewith hasten to rectify I
would miss the weekly visit of 'Tote Po or
very much. It comes like an old friend.
I enjoyed very much indeed the reading
of your racy letters describing your trip
to the Coast and back last Stemmer. In
your case the anticipation was net great-
er than the realization. You certainty
took in what you saw and you saw a
good deal, and then you gave 10 your
readers the benefit of your observations
and impressions, and like. Shakespeale'a
"Quality of Mercy," it was twice bless-
ed ; it, blessed him that saw and him
that read. You apparently saw more
khan the old lady who, wheu asked what
she saw replied ..--"O nothing but a big
hay -stack and it wee going tiro other
way," Regarding your trip, I had only
one regret that I was not home whi n yt u
came through Calgary, I wottld have
been delighted to show you our fair city
by motor ear, though I understand the
delegates Were feted and feasted to much
everywhere they went, that by the time
they turned their laces homeward they
bad such a surfeit of good thins an
ordinary auto a t ride seemed lame. 1 trust
you are all well and with all gond
wishes for THE Pos'r and its Edii or for
Matey years t0 conte,
Yours Sincerely,
