SCHOOL BOARD -At a meeting of
Brussels School Board Robert Hender-
son was appointed Truant Officer in the
place of Robert Oliver resigned, through
illness. Trustees intend enforcing new
School law as to attendance, Miss
Pearl M. Taylor was appointed a mem-
ber of Public Library Board as success-
or to 13. S. Scott removed to London.
Attendance at Continuation School re-
ported at 65 with a fen more pupils ex-
pected.
THE POST regrets to report that Mrs,
Marsden Smith, a well known and
worthy resident of Princess street., was
the subject of a stroke of paralysis last
Monday and as she is past her 83rd
birthday is not as able as in her earlier
years to shake off the attack. Mrs.
Smith is a_wocder£ully active woman
and was able to attend church last Sun-
day as is her custom. Eli Smith, Lon-
don, and Mrs, Stark, Toronto, were
called home owing to tbe condition of
affairs. We hope for improvement.

MttLVILLE YOUNG FOLK -Tile Young
People's Society of Melville church has
been re orgau'zed for the Fall and Win -
term -meetings to be held Sunday even-
ing after church service. The Society
is to work under an Executive Com-
mittee of 5 members, Oswald Heming-
way (chairmen) Joe Wilton and Allan
Lamont and Misses Geddes and Dead-
man with Miss G Stewart, Secretary -
Treasurer. The first meeting was held
on Sunday evening, Sept. 18th and ad-
dressed by the pastor, Rev. 1. P. Mc-
Leod, on "How to study the Bible,"
prior to a study of the old Teslament
characters. This meeting was largely
attended and it is doped the interest will
increase.
CHILDREN'S Alis MEETING. -A meet-
ing of Huron Couutv Children's Aid
Society was held on Sept. 13th, in the
Court House, Guderich. In the absence
of the President, Rev. J. F. Reycraft,
presided. Secretary Robertson read the
minutes of the last regular meeting, and
the County Secretary gave au account
of his dealing with cases mentioned in
the minutes. Since last meeting many
cases were Investigated and 4 children
made wards by Magistrate's order, 2
boys, and a girls. A buy aged rs charg-
ed with crime was made a ward to save
him from a prison sentence and is bow
doing well in a farm borne. 13 children
have been placed in homes since last
meeting. 'There are at present 8 child-
ren in the Home, and foster homes are
wanted for girls, age I1, so, g, and a
baby girl one year, a baby boy 6
months old and a boy 6 years. For in-
formation communicate with County
Secretary G. M. Elliott. Following

Mrs. R. el, Green, Simcoe, was a vis-
itor in town for a few days. Sbe was a
former well known Brusselite who has
never lost interest in tbe town.
Miss Minota Dunlord, who bas spent
several years in Detroit, was a welcome
visitor to Brussels, She is the young-
est daughter E. C. and Mrs. Dunford,
Thos, and Mrs. Bielby, of Kelfield,
Sask., were calling on old friends in
town during the pest week, They have
been spending several weeks holidaying
in Ontario.
Mrs. P. Scott has not been enjoying
her usual good health of late but is con-
siderably improved we are glad to state
and her many friends wish her speedy
convalescence.
Mrs. S. C. Wilson, Godarich, called
on Brussels friends over the Fair time,
The family is liking the Co. town, Mr.
Wilsgn's health is cousiderably improv-
ed. we are glad to hear.

a sister-in-law to Mrs. N. F. Gerry and
was a former resident, being a daughter

Motor Cos. office staff, Ford City, was a
visitor under the parental roof for a few
day. Mrs. Sinclair and children were
bolldaying with relatives et Dresden,
Ont.
A Brussels old boy was here last week
in the person of Oscar Crone, now of
Southampton. His parents moved to
Cannington years ago where Mr. Crone
died. Mrs. Crone and children are
now residents of Toronto.

A record breaking stalk of corn has

when cut measured 12 feet 6 inches

George Robb. St. Catharines, was a
visitor in town over the week end. Brus-
