distance of miles. Stayed over
night and anent next day in the city,
it being a very pretty, prosperous
place, with a population of about
4,500, There are some very fine resi-
dences and fruit orchards in the sur-
rounding dieteict, some 5 acre lots be-
ing valued at 15 and $20,000. Thee
has been considerable building around
200 houses going up this year. Some
of the orchard men claim to take from
$8,000 to $4,000 worth of fruit from
Lheir 6 acre lots. The fruit crop is
real good this year all along the val-
ley. By the reports in the papers the
entire crops are estimated at $7,000,
000. Kaiedeir is 10 tulles South, along
the lake, the fruit farms are situated
on whittle t' known as the "benches'
small tracts of tillable land between
the lake and the mountains. The soil
is inclined to be a little sandy here,
more so than est Penticton. The
water Is piped down the mountaioe
from a lake 4 miles up. Fruit picking
ie now in full saving, alert packing and
shipping, everyone being betty. The
weather has been very hot, and dry
lately butthey do not look for rain
