take charge of the mathematical depart-
ment of the Oakville Collegiate and in
all probability Miss Geddes will go to
Toronto. All three have done excellent
work and will be parted with reluctant-

annual meeting of this Asenciatiou on
May 31st, a Nominating Convention, for
the purpose of placing a candidate in the
field for the nee* ele.tion to the House

Han, Wingham, on Tuesday, June 21st,

prominent Liberals also will be present.

(three in addition to the Chairman of the

were surprised to learn 'ruesday morning
that Jno, Shaw had passed quietly away
Moprlay-night at the home of bis son,
Dr, J. W. Shaw, at Clinton. He had
been in his garde) in the morning, but
in the afternoon had complained of a
sin in his chest slid a doctor was
t rcalled.

Towards evening he seemed much het -
ter, bet suddenly took a change. Dr,
Shaw was in London attending military
camp The late Mr. Shaw was a Past
Worshipful Master of the Brussels
Lodge A F & A M. He is survived
by two suss, Dr J M, S11ea, Clinton ;
and Colin 0.. Springfield, Ohio ; and
three daubers Mrs (Dr I Mars, Leth-
bridge; MISS Dorothy, Winnipeg ; and
Mrs W. Mu r, Toronto. Dr. William
Shaw, 01 Morris, }Mich , is a brpther.
The late Mr. Shaw wen a native of the
Island of Jura. Argyleshire, Scotland,
and was proud of his sotIonality and
could speak the 0 teli° as dimly as the
E•tglish. He came to America when
about q vests of age, the family fist
settling in t1)0 state of North Carolina,
where they were engaged in Perming,
and continued to reside there for eight
years. At the agerof 16 Mr Shaw ap.
peered before the school board of a
neighboring County, sed was engaged
a3 their teacher. He latter took a
course at the Faidville Academy.
Shortly afterwards his Lather ctvl and
the mother having relatives in ffuilott
township, brough ; bre family up here
and it was in the County of Huron that
most of Mr. Shaw's professional life was
spent. He taught for several years in
Mullet township, going to Walton,
For over 20 years he taught tee nubile
school et Brua_ele. and it was there that
a great work was clone by him, in teach-
ing the edvenced courses to boys who
later entered the professional world and
ho hold responsible positions through•'
out Cauecla to -day. He afterwards
tsnght at lityth.'i'eeswater and Coiling -
wood. For Sono fears past he has re-
sided in Clinton with his son, Il••, J W.

Mr, Sheet was in hia 85111 .year. Mrs,
Shaw died'iu Clinton 16 years ago. The

taken.
Stanley Watson complained about
paying a business tax while outside

work without being assessed, The

tiest early June weddings was solew-
nize'd in the presence of a few intimate
friends at the residence of Mre, John.
Story, East of Leadbiley, on June let,
when Gertrude, the youngest daugh-
ter was united in the bonds of holy
matrimony' to M.plcolm McLeod, of
Seaforth. At high noon the bridal
party entered the drawing room
which was exquisitely decorated for
the occasion, the bride being eeeorted
to the nuptial altar•. by A, A. McLen-
nan, of Seaforth, and stood under a
large artistically arranged dome of
flowers with embankment setting of
rosea, Rev. S. McLean, of Egmond-
viile, was officiating clergyman, and
during the signing of the register
Chas. Boyd sang "If Ever I Forget
Thee," in excellent tenor voice. The
bride was beautifully attired in
chs piing navy blue trientine suit
with a fl'uningo waist, handsomely
embroidered and with this costume

ding march with musical ability.
Thomas Story, brother of the bride,

groom. After the wedding breakfast
was partaken of an eujnyable time

ing all good wishes to the happy bridal
couple,
