A most successful Apron Social was held at the commodious home of D. and Mrs. Walker, Friday evening of last week, under the auspices of St. John's church. Program consisted of vocal and ins'rurnental selections, aid literary numbers, intermixed ewith social chat, games, &c Financial proceeds totalled $85.00. Mr, and Mrs. Walker were heartily thanked for throwing opeu their' hospitable home. She was a kind- hearted, industrious woman, a good wife and a devout Christian whose voice was often beard in prayer, testi• m0ny and song in the Methodist church of which she was a'faitbtul member, The funeral took place Tuesday after- noon to Brussels cemetery. DOUBLE BEREAVEMENT.— CondnetOr Wm Halfpenny's many friends will sympathize with him in the death of bis Elder brother, the late S. J. Halfpenny, of Brockville, which took place Wednes- day, fats. /9th, Following that of his wife on Monday morning. Mr. Halfpenny was notified of his brother's illness and left at once to be with him. When he arrived he was bortified to learn thst his sister -in -low had passed away on Mon- day at the hospital ltnd his brother bed just breathed his lest shortly before his arrival. Pneumonia was the cause of death in each case, Mrs Halfpenny hav• ing, it is supposed, contracted the disease white 10 attendance on her hus- band and was taken to the hospital, only to receive a call in advance of him. A grown tip family survive. The funeral took the Form of s double one, when husband and wife were laid side by side in the Brockville cemetery. Jones, Brussels. les.
