Gundry, of Goderiele as Alec- tioneer, DiteeTet OP GEORGE DICKSON.--There passed away on Friday, Aug. 24th, at his late residence, Int 25, Otne 14, of the Twp. of McKillop, George Dick - eye) in his 60th year, after a lingering illness, which he bore with gl'eat fortitude and resignation to the Will of Him who- guides and directs all things well. Mr. Dickson was born on the neighboring homestead and re. sided all his life in the immediate lo- cality. He was Lhe youngest son of eight childyen, seven sone asd one daughter, the family of the late Jno. and Mrs, Dickson, who were so great- ly reverenced in a large circle in the community in which they lived. Apart from his businese as a fernier, Mr. Dickson was a great admirer as well as a judge of good horses and spent mush of his time in the buy- ing and handling of these animals. Citizens of Brussels and commun- ity were indeed sorry to learn last Thursday morning Rev, John Ross, D.D., had passed away at his resi- dence, 149 Westminster Ave., Te- rence. The late Mr. Ross was in his 77th year and had been in failing health for the past five years. Ile had returned from a trip to Cali- fornia in June, but his health had not greatly improved. The body was brought to Brussels on the noon train, Saturday and fun- eral was held from his old home church in the afternoon, when a great many of his old church mem- bers and friends from other den -eine Mations, attended to pay their last respects 'co their beloved friend and pasteovr.. Rev. David Perrie, D.D„ of Wing - ham, had charge of the service, and Rev. S. J. Allen, now of Toronto, who was Methodist minister in Brussels during Dr. Ross' pastorate, led in prayer. Lorne Eckmier sang a solo, "It is Well With My Soul." -Dr.. Perrie paid a glowing tribute to the 1 memory of Dr, Ross, as to his pas- i Meal work and ministry for twenty- i six years in Brussels. Interment . was made in the familyenlot in Brue- sels cemetery. The pallbearers were: D. C. Ross, W. Yuill, Robt. Strachan, Andrew Lamont, P. A. IL'Arthur and James Grant. In 1904 at the time of his 25th anniversary as pastor of eliAlvile Cburch, the following was published in the Post; Rev. John Ross, B.A.. Was installed as pastor of Melville Church in October, 1879, and at his second an- eiversary as pastor we glean the following facts: The number of families increased from 90 to 200; the membership from 116 to 450; the Contributions to missionary and ben- evolent objects from $284 given by the then separate congregatiohs, to oivs: $900 for the present congrega- t - Rev. Ross was born of Scottish parents in the Township of Nichol, t County of -Wellington, in the year 1861. He tectencled the Elora High Sehool, where he also taught one yettr. In 1871 Mr. Ross went to To- ronto .University, graduating as Bachelor of Arts in 1876, taking the Silver Medal in Metaphysics, .ethics end logic. Three years were spent in Knox College al which he graduated in 1879. Dttring his college days Mr. Ross took Mission work at Mani- toulin jeland, lehtektiale and Glouces- ter, N.B. After leaving Knox Col- lege he was assistant to the late Rev.
