But to Mae hie valuable lifts etfet't-

nett, has dealt conte sledge hammer
blows on the atinour of the 1lrlienaie
King government, but SO far, be has

B. Mr, Spate') came to -the rescue
with a new handle nicely twined and
finished, but it did not fit into the
socket, reeulting in a further loss of
Lima, Adding further to the afflic-
tions of the grand old Cotservetive
party, here is Sir Henry Drayton, Of
Cabinet eimbet, resigning his seat at
Ottawa and accepting a remunerative
position in a paying business carried
on under the able management of
Howard Ferguson, Premier of Ontar-
io. \Ve note that the party is now
trying to press into service Mr.
Meighen, a very able man and a "foe -
roan worthy of his steel right up to
the hilt." But he is not "persona
grata" with his own patty, as shown
in the Winnipeg Convention, last
Summer, so what's the use ?
While in the King government we
have galaxy of brilliant talent such as
Canada never had heretofore, even
they are worth "keeping tab on, and
we sincerely hope that the Conserv-
atives will yet revive and that Mr.
Mr. Spotton will find ample scope to
exploit his talents even if in the cold
shades of opposition. There's one
point both sides of the electorate.
Grit and Tory, can agree on, and that
is to streuuousiy resist all attempts
fo raise the sessional indemnity from
$4.000 to $8.000. Why '75 per cent of
either side has not the earning capac-
ity of 81,000 yearly let alone $8,000 in
six o1, eight weeks. Aren't we right ?

asleep, selected a had from the bou-

pressed tile cherished flower to her
lips and looked out upon the garden.
Life seemed still 11.101 sweet, the
zephyrs blow gently down a wale of
bloom. There seethed to be a rare
tungic where the moon, shining
through the trees, 131luudnate1 110110 of

from spot to spot beyond a long row

Instantly bi(riel thought of some
lurking marauder. She needled that
her nhlsant father always kept mono$

Then, too, a sudden inestimable value
to her cherished present was. present-
