MR. B. E. NEWMAN.
Even the most severe cases of constipa-

'Fruit -a -Lives' are all they are claimed
to bc."
"Fruit-a-tives" goes right back to
nature. Apples, oranges, prunes and figs
give to it their fresh juices which are in-
tensified and blended with tonics, Conse-
quently, the action of "Fruit -a -Lives" is
naturally corrective and strengthening. It
is a positive remedy for poorly function-
ing stomach, kidneys and bowels. This
day buy a box of "Fruit -a -lives" your-
self. Feel well, vigorous, again, 25c and
50c everywhere,

1815, the eldest son of the fourth
marquis, and succeeded to the title
in 1866. In 1869 he married Lady
Mattel Evelyn Hamilton, daughter of
the first Duko of Abercorn, To them
were born one son and two daughters !
In 1916, while minister without port.
folio, the marquis startled the poli-
tical world generally by asking
through tbo medium of the press
what were the definite aims of the
.Allies in the war.

MANY CONTROVERSIES .
Looking back aeross sixty years
ono 61111..4 the two countries engaged
in many controversies over queitions
in which they were mutually interest-
ed—some of which, had they arisen
in Europe, would almost certainly
have led to war. Here they resulted
in nothing mor, serious than such
temporary irritation as the support-
ers of one hockey team feel ,for its
successful rival. .A case in point was
the Alaska Boundary question, and
in that case Canadian indignation was
directed not so much towards the
United States as towards the
representative who by voting with
them decided the case agalnsa Can-
ada. No one who knew the character
of the elan believed for a moment
that he had acted in bad faith.
The question of reciprocity has
been a fruitful source of negotiation
between the two nations. The old
Reciprocity Treaty of 1855 had been
of great value to Canada, but for one
reason or another it did not suit the
United States, and in 1866 it was
abrogated at their instance. I , r
