Brussels vs. Lucknow at Checkers,

A 1 Serial time and contest in the
imeknow Council Chamber Monday
evening( when eleven expert checker
players of Brussels measured their
wits and skill, and shall we say en-
durance, against anequalnumber of
Lucknow's best. It was a sort of tato
and early tournament. Roads being
indifferent for :automobile traffic., the
Brussels players came up by train,
arriving about ten p. m„ and they
taught the item train for the return ,
trip. They were a jolly good bunch,
o their Lucknow antagonists say.
The arrangement was that eaeb Luen
now player should play two games
with each visitor, making 22 games
for each player, Wins were counted
and at the final summing up, Luck -
now had the greater number. A
number of spectators dropped in dor-

faseinated' that they remained earnest
to the close.
