A Goad Old Age.
Last Friday Mrs. Lott, of town,
celebrated her eightieth birtnday.
Mrs. Lott can recall incidents of the
Ameriean Civil War, the Fenian
Raide, and the time when the street
care in Toronto were drawn by hor-
ses, also when the boundaries of that
city were the water front to Moor
St. and Spadina Ave. to Sherbourne
St. Mrs, Lott came to Brussels
thirty-eight' years ago. She enjoys
fairly good health, *MA her friends

: Brother Passes Away.
As reported last week in The Post
: of the death of a brother of Mrs.
Fletcher Sperling, the St. Mary's
Journal made the following reference
, last week:—The hearts of many 31)

by the news of the death of a well
known and highly respected resident
of thc Mitchell Road, in the person
of Mr. George Stacey, who passed
away in St. Joseph's Hospital, Lon-
don, en that date. Mr. Stacey who
was but sixty-one years of age, had
been taken ill about a week previous
and upon being admittad to the, hos-
pital, had undergone a serious oper-
ation, which was successfully per-
formed, but the resultant shock caus-
cd- his death. Ile was a son of the
late Thomas Stacey of Usborne Twp.
where he was born. Fourteen years
later the family moved to Cromarty,
where he married Miss Henrietta
Dell. After this union Mr. and Mrs.
Stacey took up residence near Car-
lingford, and there they liv.ed for 6
years, filially coming to St. Marys
and making their home on Welling-
ton Street. In 1918 the Stacey fam-
ily moved onto the old Reuben Rey-
nard farm, just west of the town,
and four years- later they took an
their abode on the East Mitchell road.
Mr. Stacey was a member of Knox
Presbyterian Church St. Marys. He
is survived by. his widow, one son,
Edgar of Saginaw, Mich.•, one dau-
ghter, Mrs, Archie McNeil, of :Ruth-
erford; one brother John, of Crom-
arty, and the following sistere:—

.7. A. McLaren, Seaforth; Mrs, Hugh
Miller in B. C.; Mrs. H. Henderson,
Wawaneea; Mrs. Wm. Britton, Grand

of Brussels. The funeral on Mon-
day was largely attended, Rev. W. J.
Burnett conducting: the services.

to learn last Thursday morning that
Mrs. Walter A. Lowry had passed
away in a Toronto Hospital that
morning. She had gone to Toronto

and the funeral was held on Sunday
afternoon. Services at the home and
graveside were conducted by Rev. A.
W. Barker, of the 'United Church,
assisted by Rev. Mr. Fowler. The
pallbearers were: G. H. Semis. A.
McDonald, J. H. Galbraith, S. Carter
1, Lowry and H. Lowry. Interment
was made in Brussels Cemetery. The
late Mrs. Lowry was born in Bruce
County, near Paisley and later mov-
od with her parents to Richards

Mrs. Robt. Allen met with a very
serious accident on Thursday even-
ing, Nov. 11th, when she fell on -the
slippery sidewalk in front of the
Wingham Cafe, and fracturel her
hip. She was taken to. Termite on
Monday morning where an X-ray will
be taken.
Relatives of the Rev. W. A. El-
liott were shocked to receive word on
Saturday of his ddath at Long Beach,.
Calif., where he had gone only a few
days before. Mr. Elliott had been
with his brothers and sisters in God-
erich Township foe a couple of
months, thinking the change might
be beneficial to his health, which had
been poor, and left last week ter
Long Beach.
On Saturday night when Mr. Pha-
lan and Miss Broome were driving
into Seaforth from Winthrop, their
buggy was struck by a car driven by
Russel Marks, of Walton, who Was
also coming to ;town, and turned com-
pletely over in the ditch. Both oc-
cupants miraculously escaped injury
beyond a few bruises, but the buggy
was demolished. Mr. Phalen Wad able
to hold the horse and keep it front
running away.

Monday, cost the city $369.01. Since
there was only the one collection thie
year, this is the total cost for that
work, or about half of what it cost
