To the Electors of North
On the 1.st of December you will be asked to elect a repre-
sentative to the Provincial Legislature, and as I em a cancliffide
you have a right to know my position and views.
There are many eonte ntious subjects to be oettlecl--Gov-
cement Control vs. O. T. A.; the educational adminieeration of
the Province, Hydro•Electric affairs, and Highway matters. But
Mr. Ferguson says that the liquor question is the main lame.
That being the can, I wish to state that I am opposed to Govern
ment Control as outlined by Mr. Ferguson. Government Con-
trol should mean a restriction in tho output of liqttor lestead of
an increase. Government Control, to be effective, should be in
the hands of those in sympathy with temperance legislation and
not of those controlled by the liquor interests. Government Con-
trol may mean revenue, but it is at the expense of the general
prosperity of the Province. I believe the 0. T. A., as endorsed
by the people on different occasions and by large majorities in
Nettle Huron, should be adhered to and strictly enforced. I
believe men should be elected who are in sympathy with Lem!.
perance legislation.
Hydro -electric energy should be distributed on a more equit-
able basis throughout the Province. Revenue derived from liq-
uor should not be applied to highway expenditure. Premier
Feeguson's Township school board is not workable and should be
withdrawn, Supplementary grants to teachers' salaries should
be based on length of service, efficiency and qualification. Ries -
Bons should be hold at seasonable times when the views of the
people can be expressed, and once expressed, as they have been
on several occasions, should be reSPootod.
C. A. ROBERTSON
Since ahe, above was issued, the Premier of the Ptevince,
Ron. Howard Ferguson, 'has materially altered his own mani-
festo, though that manifesto was put forth as the result of the
most eareful consideration. Even go, with all his latest changes;
I am Unalteeably opposed to his policy on the temperance issue
anel to any form of Government Control or' sale of liquor for
beverage purposes.
I stand absolutely for the 0, T. A. attd I will suppoet all
such amendments to the Act as will make it still more effective,
O. A. ROBERTSON.

by Macy, we have oue of the most
beautiful deeds recorded in the Bible.
The disciples could nob appreciate the
deed, but looked anly on the practical
side of it. Worthy service cannot be
done without great cost. In the
week of the Church, the question is
often asked by those outside the
church, "Wily this waste of money
and men ? ' The Church is doing
more than any other inetit Mien to up-
lift humanity, Acts of devotion from
one person to another cannot be meas -
tired by ehe practical side. If °heist
has the proper place in our lives, we
will do these beautiful deeds. The
devotion of °heist to God prompted
Him to sacrifiee His life,
"The Parable of the wheat and the
tares" was the subject at the evening
service. The Parable deals with the
co -existence of good and evil apd
teaches the utter impossibility of get-
ting evil entirely out, of the chnrch,
(1) We cannot have a perfect church ;
(2) The danger of using too strenuous
methods to et adicate trifles; (8) There
vvill be a final del, of 'itineration of the
good from the evil ; (4) The tares were
