SAFE-BLOWERS AT GODERICH
Goderieh, Nov. 6. --Some tem: dur-
ing the night the safe of the Huron
Motor Sales Company was brekm in-
to and upwards of a hi t4 dollars
in cash taken but eoveral cheek,:
left.
That the work Wile thet
feseional safe-blowers there is
doubt, judging by the method •of op-
erations. Entrance to the gare„;:e
was gained by a rear door.
The safe was moved outto the
centre of the floor. An inten hole
drilled in the upper left -nand corner
of the door and with the aid of a
bar and sledge hammer serum; the
door sufficiently to allow the two
bolts to come out. The who e back
of the door had given way.
That there were two in the party,
if not more, is shown by the work
neceesary to do this. The tools used
belonged to the garage, witn possibly
the exception g the bar 'wen to pry
the door open. This cannot be found.
The robbery was discovered by an
employee when opening up this morn-
ing. No possible clue has ye': been
found, the robbers apparently coming
in by car from outside point; and
getting away again. Provincial Of-
ficer Whitesides, who is working on
the case, says that it is th: first time
he has seen a safe blown in that
manner.
The authorities to -day were still
without a clue. Seryt. Rose, on night
duty, reports seeing a large roadster
going around the square at about 4
o'clock, his attention being drawn by
the six lights on the ca:, but other-
wise paid no attention. A dance was
on that evening in town and cars
were running until after 2 o'clock.
